Chiharu isn't on her own for this new project, as the now-defunct NEO Japan Ladies Pro Wrestling alumnae Tanny Mouse and Yoshiko Tamura will oversee the promotion's development. The official hashtag for the company is #hotシュシュ. https://twitter.com/IceRibbon_eng/status/1618193508954931204 A pre-launch event is set for April 12th this year, with the promotion properly making its debut within May. Updates on the development of new talent will be provided by Tanny and Yoshiko on their cooperative YouTube channel. But where will the new talent come from? Chiharu explained that anyone is welcome to train regardless of age, gender, nationality, height, weight or…
Emi Sakura, Mayumi Ozaki, La Estrella and More in AAA World Cup By: J. Curbelo Earlier today, the prestigious Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide confirmed the participants for their highly anticipated Lucha Libre World Cup of 2023, a trios tournament with multiple companies and countries from all over the world represented. This massive competition will take place next March 19th in Guadalajara, Jalisco. During a press conference, the Japanese representatives were announced. https://twitter.com/luchalibreaaa/status/1618326594191515649 On the male side of the tournament, DRAGONGATE's La Estrella and Takuma Nishikawa join freelancer KUUKAI, an assortment that prompted AAA's Mr. Iguana to burst in anger emojis. Nishikawa, who already wrestled against Iguana in Mexico last year, wasted no time in heating things up by replying "Who are you? I don't know who you are" in Spanish. KUUKAI -formerly known as Koji Kawamoto- also went on excursion to Mexico, where he gained massive appreciation for lucha libre.…

NJPW vs. NOAH – Wrestle Kingdom 17 in Yokohama Review - 1.4.23 By: Thom Fain Reporting to you live from Yokohama Arena and joined by our amazing photographer, Masahira Kubota-san!  It's been a whirlwind month for puroresu fans and things are showing no signs of slowing down any time soon, and we are happy to bring you news from the ground in Tokyo. https://twitter.com/MonthlyPuroresu/status/1616710307510091777 Following KONGO's invasion of Wrestle Kingdom (and last year's joint event between New Japan and Pro-Wrestling NOAH), a score was settled tonight between their leader Kenoh and Los Ingobernales de Japon leader Tetsuya Naito. The factional warfare didn't stop there, however, with a best of five series Pre-show: Ryohei Oiwa & Kosei Fujita vs. Yasutaka Yano & Taishi Ozawa The opening bout predictably put the youngsters in a position to prove their mettle. It was a quick entry into the action, with Young Lions going at…

Minutes after the main event of New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 in Yokohama, Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Keiji Muto stepped away from ABEMA’s ringside commentary table and challenged Tetsuya Naito to a main event match next month in the Tokyo Dome on Feb. 21st.

Kazuchika Okada wrestled against Kaito Kiyomiya in a tag match, but things quickly got out of control between the top wrestlers of each company. By: R. Faliani Wrestle Kingdom 17 was an amazing show, filled with the best talent Puroresu can offer today, but between the mesmerizing single bouts and the surprising appearances, the thing that stood out the most was the brutal brawl between the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada and the GHC Heavyweight Champion Kaito Kiyomiya. Everything started with an stiff kick from a challenging Kiyomiya, but that was enough for the Rainmaker to blast through the referee and the poor Young Lions at ringside, motivated by his drive to beat the absolute hell out of the GHC Champion. Okada was bleeding, but that didn’t stop him from giving Kiyomiya the receipts he asked for. This attitude from Okada was really interesting, and many were asking if…
New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro-Wrestling NOAH will have their interpromotional showdown at Yokohama Arena, and there's a lot you need to know before this historic night for Puroresu. By: R. Faliani When Kazuchika Okada defeated Jay White at the Tokyo Dome, we thought Wrestle Kingdom 17 was over, but the leader of Kongo had other plans. KENOH stormed through Tetsuya Naito’s press conference with a declaration of war in the middle of the show, and his challenge was loud and clear. Motivated by his loss against Kaito Kiyomiya, and the responsability of representing Pro-Wrestling NOAH in this conflict, Kongo’s leader challenged Los Ingobernables de Japon to a series of matches to truly define which was the biggest group in Japan today. LIJ’s leader accepted the challenge, and everything was set for another historic night at Yokohama Arena. https://twitter.com/njpw1972/status/1610597534090596353?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1610597534090596353%7Ctwgr%5E985f0331e98491b2e7f34e8cef452a2a60038a0e%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fmonthlypuroresu.com%2Ffeatures%2Fpro-wrestling-noah-stable-invades-tokyo-dome%2F   The days passed, and New Japan Pro Wrestling announced not…

The pandemic years have seen an exponential growth in online popularity of joshi puroresu, and Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling is one of the biggest benefactors, with a passionate fanbase worldwide. Enthusiasts in America will finally be able to see the stars of TJPW live at Los Angeles’ Globe Theatre this March, as announced earlier this month by both TJPW and its affiliate WrestleCon.

The 42 years old Naruki Doi has conquered DDT's Universal Championship after beating Yuki Ueno and Daisuke Sasaki on an amazing 3-Way Match. By: R. Faliani In 2022, we thought the future was uncertain for the 42 years old star Naruki Doi. Just like many Japanese wrestlers today, Doi became a freelancer, and started to wrestle around AJPW and DG. He came to DDT as a big name, and his skills were appreciated by the DDT faithful. He slowly rose up to the ranks and got note-worthy matches against some of the best wrestlers DDT can offer today. After an amazing time limit draw against Daisuke Sasaki, both men were considered contenders for Yuki Ueno's Universal Championship, and a 3-Way Match decided the future of Ueno as the Universal Champion. https://twitter.com/ddtproENG/status/1613832999837270017 In this match, Doi showed his fighting spirit, and had an amazing match against Ueno and Sasaki. As always,…
The president of New Japan Pro Wrestling Takami Ohbari announced today that the second night of Wrestle Kingdom 17 at Yokohama Arena will also include cheering! By: R. Faliani The hyped showdown between Pro-Wrestling NOAH and New Japan Pro Wrestling will have a whole new atmosphere, due to Japanese crowds being able to cheer for their favorite wrestlers. We will see interesting matches and surely interesting dynamics with the crowd. The two most popular factions in Puroresu today will clash, and the Japanese fans will judge who were the best ones at the end of the night. https://twitter.com/njpw1972/status/1613452141036998656 Los Ingobernables de Japon will defend NJPW and the honor of Antonio Inoki, while Kongo will defend NOAH and the legacy of Mitsuharu Misawa. This will truly be a battle for the ages, and will surely be an historic night for professional wrestling. https://twitter.com/njpwglobal/status/1611273454950678530?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1611273454950678530%7Ctwgr%5Ea8657462cb093cb0fe8ee579a99ebca75f706986%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fmonthlypuroresu.com%2Ffeatures%2Fwrestle-kingdom-17-will-have-an-interpromotional-showdown%2F
Ice Ribbon RibbonMania Review – 12.31.22 by: Abid Chowdhury A sold out crowd of 856 fans came to witness the final pay per view show for Ice Ribbon of 2022 at Tokyo’s legendary venue, Korakuen Hall. It was their end of the year show on New Years Eve, this was RibbonMania. A pay per view where the present and future are showcased. An event where storylines continue to unfold, rivalries begin to form, and where storylines come to an end. This year was a special event. Featured a retirement of a short tenured but future star, along with two championship titles being defended.  Tsukasa Fujimoto opened the show, and thanked the fans for coming today to watch Ice Ribbon’s final pay per view show of the year, RibbonMania. In this special edition of Puroresu Gate, we not only examine the ticket sales for the biggest event of the year in New Japan Pro Wrestling’s WrestleKingdom in the 55,000-seat capacity Tokyo Dome but also events held in other venues by other promotions since WrestleKingdom week has become as big of a deal in Japan as Wrestlemania week is in North America.

History is now within reach for STARDOM’s Phoenix. Entering Nagoya, Saya Kamitani was one win away from tying the single reign defense record for the Wonder of Stardom Championship. Now she’s one step away from eclipsing it.

While New Japan Pro Wrestling awaits his showdown with Pro-Wrestling NOAH at Yokohama Arena, the New Japan Cup 2023 kicks off March 5 in Korakuen Hall! By: R. Faliani The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship scene is seeing some changes after the Wrestle Kingdom 17 clash between the former champion and the "Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, and one of those changes has been the new rivalry between Shingo Takagi and the brand new IWGP Champion. With the New Japan Cup, the title scene will be way more competitive and Okada must be ready for all of these new contenders. https://twitter.com/njpwglobal/status/1611618766676271105?s=20&t=h1eY3ytOj0TAFwpizz2I1w Between the wrestlers that could win the New Japan Cup, there's people that have a long history with the current champion that could participate, such as Will Ospreay, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomohiro Ishii, or even the lonely warrior, Minoru Suzuki. There's also young wrestlers filled with Fighting Spirit, that have been carrying the…
We thought Wrestle Kingdom 17 was over, but just like last year, Yokohama Arena will be the stage for an interpromotional showdown between Pro-Wrestling NOAH and New Japan Pro Wrestling. By: R. Faliani This announcement really surprised the wrestling world. After a night of pure wrestling excellence no one thought New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro-Wrestling NOAH would continue their conflict, but Kongo's leader KENOH had other plans. As we already know, he challenged Tetsuya Naito to a singles match back at the Tokyo Dome, but no one knew this was the beginning of something bigger. https://twitter.com/njpwglobal/status/1611256249328324608?s=20&t=93jfKkcZqMObX1z96qb-Lg Wrestle Kingdom 17 will have another night of pro-wrestling, but this time it will focus on the interpromotional bouts between said companies. NOAH will be largely represented by KONGO, while NJPW will be largely represented by Los Ingobernables de Japon, in a series of matches that will have people at the edge of…
We saw the return of the original TMDK on Wrestle Kingdom, with the brand new NJPW World Television Champion Zack Sabre Jr, but New Year Dash brought us a new member for the group. By: R.Faliani Zack Sabre Jr. stepped up to the plate as the new frontman for TMDK, and he's already bringing young boys to the team. Zack was a member of Suzuki-gun, so he knows a thing or two about trusting young talents and teaching them the ways of violence, that's why he called Kosei Fujita as his protege, and the new member of TMDK. The Young Lion will be a great member, and he will be able to grow as a professional wrestler even more. https://twitter.com/njpwworld/status/1610949763901575168 After giving Fujita a TMDK shirt, Zack spoke to the camera and said "Up yours, Jon Moxley!". We know he has a lot of history not only with Mox, but…
The IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada was in the same ring as the IWGP United States Champion Kenny Omega, but this time they wrestled as a team against the United Empire. By: R. Faliani The "One-Winged Angel" and the "Rainmaker" were bitter rivals back on the 2010s, but 2023 brought a new era for New Japan Pro Wrestling, and an unexpected alliance after all these years. Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada formed a team to face the United Empire, and they had surprisingly good chemistry as partners. If they truly decide to form a real tag team, we could be seeing two of the greatest wrestlers of all time dominate the tag team scene, but we know Kenny has only one tag team partner he wants to wrestle with, besides The Young Bucks. READ: Q&A with Kenny Omega, his career journey and Japanese culture https://twitter.com/njpwglobal/status/1610967578180227073 We also had a…
Last night, we saw one of the best matches of all time between the "One Winged Angel" Kenny Omega, and the "Commonwealth Kingpin" Will Ospreay. Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay put on a masterclass of professional wrestling at the Tokyo Dome, that was reminiscent of the epic bouts that Kenny used to had on the same scenario years ago. Many people were hyped for this match, but they surpassed our expectations over and over with what many already consider the MOTY. The entrances already speak wonders about this match. Omega summoned Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7, while Ospreay brought back the Aerial Assassin for one more match. READ: Q&A with Kenny Omega, his career journey and Japanese culture https://twitter.com/njpwworld/status/1610591471744487425 Kenny awakened his Strong Style once again and recovered the championship that was made for him. As IWGP United States Champion, Omega has opened (no pun intended) a lot of doors…
After a night of amazing matches and amazing moments, the Wrestle Kingdom press conference was invaded by Pro-Wrestling NOAH, represented by KENOH and Kongo. By: R. Faliani New Japan Pro Wrestling gave one of the best Wrestle Kingdom shows in recent memory, but the consequences of last year's showdown against Pro-Wrestling NOAH on Yokohama Arena were seen today. The Kongo unit stormed through the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito post-match press conference and made their intentions known. https://twitter.com/njpw1972/status/1610597534090596353 Kongo's leader KENOH challenged Naito to a singles match to determine which stable really is the best in Puroresu today. KENOH recently was defeated by Kaito Kiyomiya, and this victory could be what he needs to get back on track. We also know Kongo's leader is the kind of guy that does a full rant on his car, thanks to this livestream he did hours after the invasion. This match has…

On January 4th, New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) had its annual Wrestle Kingdom event, which signaled the start of 2023 and was truly worthy of the biggest show of the year. Like every year, the card was full of some of the biggest wrestlers fighting for all the company’s titles and special matches to suit every wrestling fan. In particular, there were some MOTY candidates that took the internet by storm.

AEW's most beautiful couple is coming to Japan and DDT! Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford will make their debut at Nagoya! By: R. Faliani All Elite Wrestling and DDT Pro Wrestling announced their partnership back on 2022, and the wrestling content they have delivered since then has been top notch. With the likes of Konosuke Takeshita and Jun Akiyama appearing on Dynamite and Rampage, we figured it was only a matter of time before AEW wrestlers made the jump to Japan! https://twitter.com/ddtproENG/status/1610239317699596289 Kip Sabian has been an original on AEW since 2019, and the same can be said for Penelope Ford. The talented couple has a big chance to make their names known on Sanshiro Takagi's company, and show their true potential! We know Penelope Ford was interested on Maki Itoh and Miyu Yamashita, and her debut at Nagoya could be the first step towards something even bigger in her…
Miyu Yamashita Seeks to Win Triple Crown Across the World By: J. Curbelo TJPW's Ace Miyu Yamashita is very close to earn a "Japan - U.S. - U.K. Triple Crown" this month. Yamashita's set to face known rival Yuka Sakazaki for her TJPW Princess of Princess Championship at tonight's "TJPW '23" show, prior to Wrestle Kingdom. The contender isn't just that, however, as she holds British all-female promotion Pro Wrestling EVE's top title belt after defeating Alex Windsor last November. Should Miyu win tonight, she'd go as a double-champion into a Ring of Honor Women's Championship match against Athena at PRESTIGE Wrestling later this month. The Pink Striker made it very clear that she's aiming to achieve this feat, but she will have to go through a Sakazaki at her toughest. https://twitter.com/tjpw2013/status/1610290732862177280 The two rivals exchanged elbows last Christmas at Ryogoku KFC Hall during an 8-woman tag team match, with…

Welcome to Puroresu Gate, a weekly feature where we review attendance figures of Puroresu and Joshi promotions in the most well-known venues in Japan.

This week, we are looking at the 14,471-seat Nippon Budokan Arena in Tokyo Japan. One of the largest and most prestigious arenas in Japan, this venue has hosted some of the most epic moments in the entire history of Puroresu!

By: Syn Fritz The Ark has returned to Tokyo and has docked at the Nippon Budokan for NOAH, The New Year. Great matches and surprises abound, let's take a look at what went down in Tokyo! Yasutaka Yano vs Taishi Ozawa It was honestly surprising how short this opener was between two young wrestlers. Both were racing to the ring for this one. Yatsutaka Yano stayed in control for most of the match. Oddly, it feels like Ozawa has grown more as a wrestler, but at the same time it feels like his growth as a in-ring performer has stalled a little. Ozawa may need that extra push or inspiration to get him to that next level in his journey. Short match, just over 6 minutes to get the crowed warmed up. Pro-Wrestling NOAH star Keiji Muto declared that his match with Shinsuke Nakamura is better than the GHC Championship bout between Kaito Kiyomiya and KENOH. By R.Faliani https://twitter.com/noahglobal/status/1608708056279572481?s=20&t=Wrh7g3BqrqZ6sNWb2Im6gw On January 1st, Keiji Muto will have his last match on NOAH "THE NEW YEAR" 2023, and while the match itself already is an attraction, many people were unhappy with this match main eventing the show. Mutoh's controversial statement is truly a reflection of the current state of Pro-Wrestling NOAH. READ: NOAH's Greatest Curse: Does the GHC Heavyweight Title Still Hold its Value? Although this statement could be seen as disrespectful to the craft of Kaito Kiyomiya as champion, and the prestige of the GHC Heavyweight Championship as one of the most coveted prizes on Puroresu, we know Kiyomiya will give his absolute best to steal the show. NOAH's "THE NEW YEAR" 2023 will be a big show for the company, and it…

DDT Pro Wrestling closed out the year with a momentous show at Tokyo Dome City Hall. Three championships were on the line, including the KO-D Openweight Championship, in a much-anticipated match between Kazusada Higuchi and Yuki Ueno.

As 2022 comes to a close, STARDOM’s main protagonist finally stood atop the mountain, ending a journey that forged her into the diamond she now is.

“It was a surprise to me. It was unbelievable,” said Shinsuke Nakamura in a recent
interview with Pro Wrestling NOAH. “That was my honest reaction, that it actually came to be real.”

Giulia Reveals All About Beef with Maya Yukihi By: J. Curbelo During a series of interviews with Tokyo Sports, World of Stardom Championship #1 contender Giulia opened up about her history with former Ice Ribbon rival, Maya Yukihi, who surprised the wrestling community by arriving in STARDOM to participate in the Triangle Derby tournament alongside her Rebel x Enemy stablemates. Giulia and Yukihi have previously fought in Ice Ribbon for a total of three times, with Giulia always on the losing end. Despite Yukihi being a senior to Giulia, she explicitly stated she has no respect towards the former ICExInfinity Champion, let alone looking up to her. "The new Dangerous Queen" alleges that Yukihi constantly talked about her behind her back, adding that she spent her entire time in Ice Ribbon knowing about it and resenting her for it. https://twitter.com/Himanshu_Doi/status/1605147112261685249 Giulia also pointed out the incongruence of Yukihi coming to…

Pro Wrestling NOAH's New Year is shaping up, and these videos are hyping up the show! By: R.Faliani The January 1st Nippon Budokan spectacle has been the talk of the town on Pro Wrestling NOAH, and the company has decided to release interview videos with some of the protagonists of the night. The GHC Heavyweight Champion Kaito Kiyomiya will face Kongo's leader Kenoh for the belt, and the things he said about this match are noteworthy. —Kaito Kiyomiya's message to KENOH "I've fought you many times before, but this time, at Nippon Budokan on New Year's Day, I won't give up. Go ahead and take this belt away from me, if you can. I'm the one who will take NOAH to Budokan. I will never lose to you. I'm the one who will take NOAH all the way." The former GHC Heavyweight Champion, and Kiyomiya's biggest rival, was as harsh…

By: R.Faliani At Yoyogi National Gymnasium event on 11.23, Naomichi Marufuji announced that he would challenge for the GHC Tag Championship with former partner KENTA, who currently wrestles for New Japan Pro Wrestling.  What did “The Genius of the Ark” have on his mind? On KENTA ——Please tell us why you chose KENTA as your partner. Naomichi Marufuji “Well, the Yoyogi crowd were the ones who brought KENTA’s name up, but my partners were [Masato] Tanaka and [Masaaki] Mochizuki. It's hard. If you go to win the belt, do you think Tanaka and Mochizuki have the better chance at winning? Maybe. However, 2023 is also a milestone year for me, so . . . Eight years after Nanae Takahashi won the Goddess of Stardom Tag League, she did so once more. This time there was no Pirate Princess by her side, just the immovable force that is Yuu.

Yuki Ueno managed to defeat the Goliath, Yukio Naya, in DDT’s D-Oh Grand Prix Final on December 4th. It was a hard-fought victory, as Ueno fought back resiliently in the face of vicious knees and strikes from Naya.

By: Abid Chowdhury When fans bought their tickets to watch SEAdLINNNG's October Korakuen Hall show, they were expecting to see Arisa Nakajima defend her Beyond The Sea Championship. However, they weren't expecting to see SEAdLINNNG have a 1 day tournament to crown a new BTS champion. That's exactly what happened on October 19th from Korakuen Hall. Before we get to this event, a bit of a backstory on how we got this event. At SEAdLINNNG's 7th anniversary show in August from Korakuen Hall, Arisa Nakajima was set to defend her BTS championship against Hiroyo Matsumoto. The match was great, both talents took each other to the limit. They were having a match of the year contender. Within the last 2 minutes of the match, an accident happened. Arisa Nakajima went for a move off the top rope, Matsumoto went after her, and Nakajima slipped from Matsumoto's hands. She fell hard…

Curbelo Almost a year after leaving Ice Ribbon to form deathmatch independent unit PROMINENCE, Suzu Suzuki has been asked to return to the place she once called home per Yuuki Mashiro's request to retire from professional wrestling with a match against her on December 31st's Ribbonmania. It's a match that the Triangle Ribbon Champion has wanted for a while, but Ice Ribbon is yet to officially authorize the encounter despite its president giving a personal thumbs up. https://twitter.com/MonthlyPuroresu/status/1575563764891414528 In September, Yuuki Mashiro announced her retirement from professional wrestling to focus on the next chapter of her young life. Little more than a month remains in Mashiro's road to retirement,…

KAIRI Wrestled Two High-Profile Matches While Injured By: J. Curbelo It was a monumental weekend for women's professional wrestling in Japan as STARDOM had two back-to-back shows, including the much anticipated Historic X-Over featuring talent from New Japan Pro Wrestling. One of the main characters of these two action packed days was the Pirate Princess, KAIRI, who walked into the shows as a double contender. https://twitter.com/njpwglobal/status/1594290444120489984 On Saturday's Gold Rush, KAIRI fought Wonder of Stardom Champion Saya Kamitani for the prestigious white belt to a 30 minute draw. Despite the frustrating result, KAIRI had one more opportunity at greatness on Sunday's joint event as she was set to face co-finalist of the inaugural IWGP Women's Championship tournament, Mayu Iwatani. Two of the three Daughters of STARDOM wrestled an emotional 25 minute match that saw KAIRI picking up the win and making history as the beginning of a new legacy unfolded…

History was always going to be made in many ways at Ariake Arena.

As the men of New Japan Pro Wrestling and the women of STARDOM came together for their first ever joint show, all eyes were on the two biggest promotions in Japan.

Things don’t always go to plan in pro wrestling. In those situations, all you can hope for is that nobody gets hurt.

Gold Rush lived up to its name. Beyond just a couple of big championship battles, four teams fought in a two round tournament in order to win the ‘MoneyBall’.

The contenders and their mind games on each other were certainly the protagonist of this match. Dragon Gate (founded on July 5th, 2004 by Takashi Okumura) has teamed up with NOAH for this joint show. Let's see how the show went down. Madoka Kikuta & Ryu Fuda & Mochizuki Junior vs Yoshiki Inamura & Yasutaka Yano & Kai Fujimura This six man tag kicked off the show today with standing out the most as he was the biggest of the competitors in this match. The only person who seemed to at least try to meet him in power was Dragon Gate's own Madoka Kikuta who is one half of the Open The Twin Gate Champions (with Dragon Dia). The match itself wasn't very long, and once you are hit by Inamura's Oklahoma Slam, that is pretty much it for…

There was a moment in the aftermath of the 5 Star Grand Prix Final – a violent war between Giulia and Tam Nakano – where they shared a look through tired, half opened eyes. In that moment they both knew without question: there will be no end to their rivalry.

The ark has come ashore in Osaka at the Osaka Edion Arena for the N-1 Victory Tournament Grand Finals. The N-1 Victory was unexpected this year as upsets were about wherever you looked. In the end though, after 2 weeks , we are here with Kaito Kiyomiya and Hideki Suzuki in the main event of tonight’s show.

On the surface the STARDOM in Showcase events might be designed to be a little bit more on the lighter and fun side, but, it Volume 2 certainly closed on a ominous note.

On the night that the ‘Black Swan’ emigrated to DDT, we celebrated the historic 30 year (and counting) career of Jun Akiyama. With more flowers than a florist on Valentine’s Day, DDT welcomed Akiyama’s 30th anniversary and put on a Korakuen Hall show filled to the brim with exciting tag team.

Tam Nakano has been enjoying success in both the 5 Star Grand Prix and as one half of the Goddess of Stardom Tag Champions alongside Natsupoi. That doesn’t mean everything in Cosmic Angels has been smooth sailing however.

The Queen of JTO Champion Tomoka Inaba has been a regular on these NEW BLOOD shows, but she wasn’t content with just appearing on the opening match against Hina.

Those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. When the first ever Red Belt champion came to reclaim her title, only Syuri could defend STARDOM’s present.

Concluding a show filled with memorable moments, cheering fans and exciting matches, the reigning KO-D Openweight Champion, Kazusada Higuchi, riding a tidal wave of momentum, crashed into the man who was never defeated for DDT’s most coveted prize, Tetsuya Endo.

Will Ospreay and the United Empire had sacrificed sleep in order to study up on all those who had managed to overcome the Rainmaker. After six losses to Okada he needed to win this. You could hear the desperation in his voice.

Suzu Suzuki never tapped out, but the record books will show that MIRAI came away from their hotly anticipated rematch with the victory via her Miramare submission.

Head referee Daichi Murayama made the call the end the match with Suzu’s future in the tournament in mind.

After four grueling weeks, it all came down to this. Miu Watanabe vs. Yuka Sakazaki in the finals of the 9th Tokyo Princess Cup tournament.

This week, we are looking at the 1,800-seat Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Known as the MECCA of Japanese Pro Wrestling, this venue is used by every Puroresu and Joshi promotion and is considered sacred ground for fans and wrestlers alike.

For the 12th year in a row. the N-1 Victory tournament has kicked off, this time from the Yokohama Budokan in Kanagawa, and the best of the best from Pro-Wrestling NOAH’s heavyweight division hare here to prove who is the best. For those new to Pro-Wrestling NOAH, the N-1 Victory (originally created by Akira Taue and called the Global League until 2018) is a round robinstyle tournament with two blocks of wrestlers (an A Block and a B Block) and a point system where you earn 2 points if you win a match, 1 if the match goes to a draw, and no points if you lose. The tournament is taking place over the 2 weeks, and while it may be similar to the G1 Climax and Champion Carnival, I dare say its more grueling then the other two.

This week, we are looking at the 1,800-seat Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Known as the MECCA of Japanese Pro Wrestling, this venue is used by every Puroresu and Joshi promotion and is considered sacred ground for fans and wrestlers alike.

Our weekly Puroresu Gate feature analyzing ticket sales takes us to the 290-seat Shin-Kiba 1st Ring arena, where SEAdLINNNG and Big Japan Pro Wrestling each ran shows recently.

STARDOM 5 Star Grand Prix: Night Two Review By Trent Breward It's possible Utami Hayashishita was looking past Himeka last night, because awaiting her 24 hours later was the one person she had yet to beat. If that was the case, it was worth it because The Red Queen has finally slayed her dragon. With seconds to spare in the 6th singles meeting between Utami Hayashishita and Syuri, she finally managed to hit the BT Bomb in the middle of the ring and break the curse. Like their previous encounters it was a brutal affair, but where Utami seemed to succeed this time around was the steady stream of devastating blows. Syuri never got too far ahead on points without Utami landing a high impact move that brought the champion back down to earth. When the finishing stretch was upon them Syuri was a little more vulnerable, allowing Utami to…
NJPW Music City Mayhem Review By Thom Fain It was a continuation of the massively successful AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door — this time, a Music City Mayhem. The action stoked an intimate crowd in Nashville, who witnessed wrestlers from both sides of the Pacific demonstrate that heightened level of competition starting to trademark the events coming from Takami Ohbari and Tony Khan's burgeoning partnership. The production quality was noticeably better than previous FiteTV PPV events. Music City Mayhem also featured enough main card talent from Japan to be a proper throwback of those Cow Palace and Walter Pyramid shows from 2017-18, where The Elite set the tables for ALL IN and igniting change in the wrestling world. Although Nashville is hardly a wrestling epicenter, the fanfare for KUSHIDA, Hiromu Takahashi, El Desperado, and Shota Umino had to have encouraged New Japan’s Tokyo officials who remain hellbent on building out…
STARDOM 5 Star Grand Prix: Night One Review By: Trent Breward Overwhelming power was the name of the game as STARDOM's most prestigious tournament kicked off in Ota Ward Gymnasium. In each match the power game was the key. Whoever hit harder won the match. Hazuki and Giulia made determining that particularly difficult as they went back and forth in controlling the action in the main event. For a moment Giulia threatened to end the match the same way she did when the two faced off in her first ever STARDOM match, but the Stealth Viper submission couldn't quite get the job done. What could get it done was a sickening headbutt. It's a move Giulia has used in big matches to great effect, but this time she was on the other end of the strike. It dazed her long enough for Hazuki to hit a massive Michinoku Driver and…

STARDOM is currently the best women’s pro-wrestling company in the world, and now more than ever people will get the opportunity to see their wrestlers live. A summer press conference revealed that New Japan Pro-Wrestling and World Wonder Ring Stardom are minting the IWGP Women’s Championship, sure to have an impact on joshi puroresu’s continued expansion. Although the title is designed to be defended as part of joint New Japan cards, the IWGP Women’s Title will be defended domestically and abroad.

STARDOM Midsummer Champions in Nagoya Review By: Trent Breward With less than a week until the 5 Star Grand Prix tournament begins and off the back of a show the previous night, the wrestlers could be forgiven if they wanted to take Midsummer Champions a little easy. Instead, Syuri and Tam Nakano chose violence. In a match that exemplified both of their strengths, this slugfest felt more like a war of styles than it did competitors. The impeccable technique of the champion against the raw emotion of the challenger. Tam’s style had led her to great success in 2021 as the Wonder of Stardom Champion, and at moments it felt as though it was going to overwhelm Syuri. The Twilight Dream Suplex that had won her the White Belt almost brought the Red to her as well. However that emotional fuel that carried her to the cusp of championship glory…
