Rina Fulfills Her Promise After Future of STARDOM Championship Win

By: J. Curbelo

After defeating her own sister Hina as well as Miyu Amasaki last March, Rina became the #1 contender for the Future of STARDOM title, and went on to challenge Ami Sohrei at today’s NEW BLOOD 7 and take her first championship belt in her career.

This is a special month for Oedo Tai’s Pink Devil, as it was almost one year ago when Rina showed up at her mentor Hana Kimura’s memorial show “Bagus” on May 23rd to say that when her time came to be a champion, it would have been because of Hana. The one who chose her for her unit when no one else would in 2019. Once a crying kid, she finally earned validation.

Today, Rina came out wearing pink braids on her pitch black hair, and submitted the noticeably bigger Sohrei with a modified version of Kimura’s Hydrangea submission hold to become the 10th Future of STARDOM Champion.

The 16 year old delinquent of STARDOM had attempted to win the belt two times in the past, on top of a failed attempt at taking AZM’s High Speed Championship, so her victory is especially emotional, Hana tribute aside. Even former World of Stardom champion Syuri was astonished, as her facial expression showed while she was helping her God’s Eye teammate Ami Sohrei return backstage.

With tears in her eyes, Rina celebrated. But her celebration was cut short by Lady C’s challenge. Due to the championship’s rules, Lady C has until November of this year to win the title or she won’t be able to contend for it anymore, but Rina boasted that she always wanted to win the belt, and now she won’t let it go.

With Rina’s victory, she becomes the second of the “judo sisters” to win the championship after Hanan, leaving it up for Hina to complete the trifecta. That will certainly be a factor in her title reign. Opponents aside, Rina is set to wrestle at the upcoming Hana memorial “Pinx!” and it can’t be doubted how happy she is to bring the belt there and fulfill her promise.
