Syuri Challenges Mayu Iwatani for IWGP Women’s Title

The World Class Woman on a Different Level has staked her claim to The Icon’s championship

STARDOM held their annual Year End Climax event at Korakuen Hall today taking place on Christmas Eve, featuring previews for matches set to take place at Dream Queendom in five days at Ryogoku Sumo Hall.

Syuri officially issued a challenge to IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani after her match with Ami Sohrei against 7Upp (Nanae Takahashi & Yuu). She proclaimed that next year will be a year of change. The match will take place at Tokyo Dome City Hall on January 4th, the day of Wrestle Kingdom 18. It will be the forth match between Iwatani and Syuri, with the latter having a record of 2-1 against the champion.

This will mark Syuri’s first singles championship challenge since losing the World of Stardom title to Giulia at last year’s Dream Queendom, her last title challenge came when herself and Ami Sohrei challenged Rose Gold (Mariah May & Mina Shirakawa) for the Goddess of Stardom championships in July at MidSummer champions.

Additionally, Syuri will be facing rookie Rana Yagami in her wrestling debut tomorrow at New Blood 12 at Shinagawa Intercity Hall.
