Saya Kamitani Gets Back at Mina Shirakawa with Green Mist

By: J. Curbelo

Mina Shirakawa’s months-long vendetta against Saya Kamitani has made her sacrifice even her closest allies in order to evolve and get to the Wonder of Stardom Championship. Their rematch after the ill-fated first encounter that left Shirakawa injured for weeks has been confirmed for STARDOM’s All Star Grand Queendom show on Sunday, April 23rd.

For the press conference building up to the show, Shirakawa vented her regrets about not being able to “finish the story” at the Hiroshima Goddess Festival event in November. Her oath to prove to her fans that she can climb up from the hell she’s been through made her stand up and taunt Kamitani by slowly spitting a dark subtance on Kamitani’s face. In response, the Golden Phoenix swore to leave Shirakawa’s story unfinished.

Of course, Saya Kamitani would not leave this humiliation be without physical retaliation. Especially since Kamitani was also mortified at the outcome of Hiroshima, being unable to properly execute the Phoenix Splash and tormenting herself for it since then. The champion hasn’t done the move after the incident, but kept practicing it for Grand Queendom.

On April 14th at Korakuen Hall, Queen’s Quest (Utami Hayashishita, Saya Kamitani, Lady C & Miyu Amasaki) were scheduled to face Club Venus (Mina Shirakawa, Mariah May, Xena & Jessie) and a regular eight-woman tag team match. After 11 minutes and 36 seconds, Jessie scored the win by pinning Lady C.

However, the main attraction of the match was clearly Kamitani and Shirakawa’s grudge, which saw them not only wrestle throughout the match outside the ring, but also stare at each other after the bell rang. In an unexpected move straight from The Great Muta’s playbook, Kamitani waited for the right moment to spit green mist on her rival’s face.

As Shirakawa rolled on the floor, Kamitani displayed a proud, even arrogant face. Initially upset, the Venus realized that Kamitani gave in to dark emotions, the despair she called her out for last year. For Shirakawa, Kamitani’s green mist is a sign of another face within Saya, who “always plays the good girl”.

For Kamitani, this was just about payback. The white belt holder is decided to restore her honor, and her wings as she’ll attempt a comeback of the Golden Phoenix and her splash.
