KAIRI Confirmed for Kenta Kobashi Produce Show

By: J. Curbelo

The voyage doesn’t stop after losing the IWGP Women’s Championship for KAIRI. Although she has always been independent since her return to the ring in 2022, the Pirate Princess recently made headlines for explicitly saying in an interview that she’s a free agent.

Despite speculation from fans and media about KAIRI going to any company in the United States, for now it seems she’s looking for new adventures within Japan. Before she challenges for the Artist of Stardom Championships with Natsupoi and Saori Anou as “REstart” on April 23rd, KAIRI surprised fans in attendance at NOMADS’ to give personal support (And a good old chop) to her long-time friend Jungle Kyona, as she wrestled her last match before an injury recovery hiatus.

But in regards to actual wrestling performances, just a few hours ago Kenta Kobashi announced that KAIRI will be part of the eighth FORTUNE DREAM show, his series of self-produced events, at Korakuen Hall on Wednesday, June 14th. The legendary pillar of heaven is well acquaintanced with KAIRI, as they have both been involved in several talk shows and fan-meeting events over the last few years, even during the time KAIRI was under contract with the WWE.

KAIRI’s rival has not been announced yet, but regardless of who it is, she has promised to leave her soul in the ring fighting to the fullest, as her respect and admitarion for Kobashi is immense and goes way back, constantly describing him as her hero.

Last year, FORTUNE DREAM 7 held a singles match between Lady C and Himeka, both wrestlers regarded by Kobashi himself as spiritual successors of Giant Baba and Jumbo Tsuruta. With such level of consideration, who will stand face-to-face against KAIRI next June?
