TJPW’s Big Moment in the U.S. to Come with WrestleCon

by: J. Curbelo

The pandemic years have seen an exponential growth in online popularity of joshi puroresu, and Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling is one of the biggest benefactors, with a passionate fanbase worldwide. Enthusiasts in America will finally be able to see the stars of TJPW live at Los Angeles’ Globe Theatre this March, as announced earlier this month by both TJPW and its affiliate WrestleCon.

This would be a second attempt to bring CyberFight’s captivating joshi company after an announcement back in 2020 for a Tampa show that ended up cancelled along with wrestling events as a whole after the worldwide spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We did hold a full scale WrestleCon in Dallas, Texas last year, but it was still difficult for many international fans/wrestlers to travel. This is the first Convention we have held, since the original cancellation, where there are no restrictions.  It was a natural opportunity to have Tokyo Joshi return to Wrestlecon the first opportunity” told WrestleCon to Monthly Puroresu.

It can’t be helped but to think of the massive difference between TJPW’s momentum before the pandemic and the one they’re enjoying right now. Priorly, the yearly fan convention has brought other cult-followed promotions like AAA, NJPW, RevolutionPro and more, which have since skyrocketed in popularity even further.

“Our goal at WrestleCon is to allow everybody from around the world to showcase their promotion on the biggest weekend of the year in wrestling. We feel fortunate that Tokyo Joshi has such an international following, that includes many US fans, and wants to partner with us at WrestleCon” said the convention’s management in our interview. Such is the excitement overall that fans wasted no time in flooding TJPW’s social media asking for more information, which is still unavailable for the moment.

However, we can confirm thanks to WrestleCon that fans will be able to meet their favorite wrestlers during the proper convention.

“All meet and greets will be part of the Wrestlecon Convention that is being held at the Biltmore Millennium Hotel. It is less than a mile from the Globe Theatre, where all our live events will be held. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the stars of Tokyo Joshi, in addition to nearly 200 wrestling superstars, over the course of the three days.”

If you’re far away from Los Angeles and can’t make it to the show, don’t worry and start saving up because WrestleCon also stated that they’re hopeful of the company running annual shows in the United States, should this first tour be a success. With the way things are looking for all parties, it’s a likely outcome.
