Jake Lee Claims Kaito as Champion Jeopardizes the Business

The bitter ballad of Kaito Kiyomiya continues, as Jake Lee doubles down on his taunting statements about Kiyomiya’s reign as GHC Heavyweight Champion ahead of their March 19th match. They’re also scheduled to face each other in a tag team match featuring Atsushi Kotoge and Anthony Greene.

A loss to Okada was humiliating enough, but a loss to Lee for his championship would be a devastating blow to his already unstable confidence, and the leader of GLG knows it.

According to Lee, Kiyomiya’s early success got his on a fast track to the top, but it may have also burned him too past. “That’s why he’s so tense, he looks like he’s about to crush under pressure. If that’s the champion we have, kids won’t look up to him, and those who still cheer for him are doing it out of pity,” claimed Jake Lee.

Kiyomiya recently vented about regretfully allowing the gap between the IWGP and GHC titles becoming bigger, something that Lee called out his rival for. “Now that he lost, fans want to go to New Japan and see the stronger and cooler Heavyweight Champion. That’s bad for our business, and bad for my livelihood. If I had the belt, people would come to NOAH shows. I’m sure many wrestlers would be eager to challenge me,” Jake Lee told Tokyo Sports.

The Good Looking Guy promised to Jake Lee that he’s taking the championship out of the goodness of his heart, to let Kiyomiya rest from the burden of being a weak champion.
