Welcome to Puroresu Gate, a weekly feature where we review attendance figures of Puroresu and Joshi promotions in the most well-known venues in Japan.

This week, we are looking at the 1,800-seat Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Known as the MECCA of Japanese Pro Wrestling, this venue is used by every Puroresu and Joshi promotion and is considered sacred ground for fans and wrestlers alike.

GLEAT: G Pro Wrestling 31

Date: August 24th

Attendance: 723

GLEAT is quickly becoming one of the more exciting independent promotions in Japan. Taking its inspirations from the defunct Wrestle-1 and UWFi promotions, the promotion is developing a loyal following. Their most recent show at Korakuen Hall is available to watch free on YouTube and was headlined by El Lindaman defending his G-REX Championship against NJPW star DOUKI.

World Wonder Ring Stardom: 5 Star Grand Prix Night Nine

Date: August 27th

Attendance: 1,511

Stardom held yet another sold-out event at Korakuen Hall this week for the ninth day of their 5 Star Grand Prix tournament. In an event filled to the brim with AMAZING Joshi Wrestling, Giulia faced off against Starlight Kid in an epic encounter to close out the show.

 

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling: Go Girl 3 ~ Women Only Show 

Date: August 28th

Attendance: 500

TJPW had a big day at Korakuen Hall this week with the unveiling of the company’s new logo as well as one hell of a card headlined by a special six-person tag team match that gave fans a sneak peek at the main event of Wrestle Princess Three. The Princess Of Princess Champion Shoko Nakajima teamed up with Rika Tatsumi, and Miu Watanabe to face her challenger on the 10th of October Yuka Sakazaki who teamed up with Mizuki & Miyu Yamashita for the third event in a series of shows where only female fans are permitted to attend.
