On the last edition of Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Monday Magic, which aired on June 2nd, Kouki Amarei made her second defense of the GHC Women’s Title as she faced Takumi Iroha. Despite a valiant effort, Amarei was defeated and lost the GHC Women’s Championship to Iroha.
Following her loss, Amarei gave backstage post-match comments in which she gave a lengthy statement. At one point during her comments, Amarei indicated that she had fun despite losing the GHC Women’s Title:
“To be completely honest—like, really honest—today was incredibly fun. I lost, but I had such a great time.”
That comment did not sit well with another Marigold superstar. Chika Goto took to X and slammed Amarei’s indication that she had “fun” during her championship defeat.
From Chika Goto:
“I would never say something like ‘I lost, but it was fun.’ I don’t want to lose to anyone.”
Goto faced Amarei back in Jan. 2025 for the GHC Women’s Title but was unsuccessful in winning the championship. Amarei was injured in that match and as a result, she was forced to miss a few months of in-ring action.
There could be some resentment on the part of Goto towards Amarei as she had set her sights on the GHC Women’s Title but was passed over for Takumi Iroha. This was made apparent at Amarei’s return match from injury on May 24th.
As of this writing, Amarei has not responded to Goto criticizing her remarks and quite frankly, she may just simply ignore them.
Despite all of this, one thing that sounds fantastic would be a GHC Women’s Championship number one contender’s match between Kouki Amarei and Chika Goto.
Rossy Ogawa or Naomichi Marfuji, let’s make this happen.
