Marigold Super Flyweight Champion Victoria Yuzuki Vows To Defeat Mayu Iwatani On May 24th

Back on April 13 at Marigold Spring Victory Series, Victoria Yuzuki successfully defended her Marigold Super Flyweight Championship against Rea Seto in an exciting match between the two young stars.

Following her victory, the question was raised as to what would be next for Yuzuki. She expressed interest in the Marigold United National Championship held by Mai Sakurai, potentially becoming a double champion.

As the Super Flyweight Champion, fans had wondered who the next challenger would be for Yuzuki. Prior to May 1st, there was one name that would have never entered the mind of anyone who follows Marigold.

On May 1st, the “Icon” Mayu Iwatani joined the Marigold roster and set a goal for herself to win every title in the promotion.

Iwatani defeated Nanae Takahashi in her debut match for Marigold on May 4th. Following Iwatani’s victory, Yuzuki seized the moment and entered the ring to nominate Iwatani as her next challenger. Iwatani quickly accepted as the two went at it verbally.

The match between Yuzuki and Iwatani is scheduled for May 24th at SHINE FOREVER 2025.

Yuzuki took to social media to remind Iwatani and the fans that she has more experience as a competitor since departing STARDOM. She vowed to defeat Iwatani and retain her title.

“I know that Mayu is a strong opponent. But I also have a year that I have been with Marigold. Please don’t think that I am the Yuzuki of that time when I made my first single. Please accept my determination. On top of that, I will beat Mayu and will not give the Super Flyweight belt to anyone.”

Iwatani will be the toughest challenger by far for Yuzuki and her Marigold Super Flyweight Championship.

Yuzuki knows that Iwatani wants to be a Marigold Grand Slam Champion but she doesn’t intend to be a stepping stone for Iwatani when she begins her quest on May 24th.
