Giulia to Defend STRONG Women’s Championship Against AZM

The challenge was made a few days ago, and now the match is official for December 2nd

By: James Carlin

On November 18th following her triple threat match against Starlight Kid and Suzu Suzuki, AZM issued a challenge to the NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Giulia. The match has now been made official, and Giulia’s sixth defence of the belt will be made on December 2nd at Nagoya Big Winter.

Giulia has previously defended the title both in America, against HYAN in Las Vegas and against Gisele Shaw, Deonna Purrazzo and Momo Kohgo in Philadelphia, as well as in Japan against Yuu, Ami Sohrei, and Risa Sera.

The two have previously encountered each other in head-to-head matches only once – with the High-Speed Bomb Girl defeating the Dangerous Queen in a little under one minute. Whilst the champion is still frustrated that she lost to her junior (maybe in age, but not in-ring) in such quick fashion, AZM is already looking towards the future, stating that if she wins the purple title, she wants to go over to the United States proudly show it to IYO SKY, who she trained under and teamed with as part of Queen’s Quest. She also stated that she wants to see her classmate, Kairi Sane, once more – the two trained in the same rookie class in 2011. h/t Tokyo Sports

Earlier in the year, Shirai had re-united with current Queen’s Quest leader Utami Hayashishita when Hayashishita went on a short excursion across the United States in preparation for this year’s 5STAR GP.
