KENTA Apologizes To Fans Following His Unsuccessful GHC Heavyweight Title Bid Against OZAWA

By: Lewis Carlan

On May 3rd, over 4500 fans were in attendance at Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan to watch KENTA attempt to dethrone OZAWA for the GHC Heavyweight Championship at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s MEMORIAL VOYAGE 2025 IN KOKUGIKAN. KENTA was unsuccessful in regaining the GHC Heavyweight Title he lost over 10 years ago which prompted him to apologize to the fans.

KENTA came close to defeating OZAWA for NOAH’s top prize with a GTS only to have outside interference from TEAM 2000X prevent him from becoming the new champion. OZAWA was able to come back and hit a Real Rebel on KENTA to secure the victory and retain his title.

Following his defeat, KENTA had a number of apologetic words for his fans who were hoping to see him win the GHC Heavyweight Title for the first time in over 10 years.

From KENTA:

“I’m really sorry that I made the people who supported me feel disappointed with this kind of result. But like he [OZAWA] said, I’ve definitely become a man of my word, but I’m not broken at all, and I’m happy to be back on the main event stage like this today. I’m happy to be back here in the main event today. I want to go back up there and do it again. Next time, I’ll be the one to make him into a man of his word.”

KENTA first and only reign as the GHC Heavyweight Championship took place from Jan. 27 2013 through Jan. 5 2014. It’s evident that KENTA will be looking for another opportunity in the future to become a two time holder of the GHC Heavyweight Title.
