Kazuchika Okada Promises to Cooperate for All Together Again

By: J. Curbelo

Earlier this year we witnessed a relentless Kazuchika Okada lash out at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Kaito Kiyomiya with violent intent. Claiming that he wasn’t notified about their encounter against each other, he even went as far as to not attend the press conference for the match and go eat some grilled meat. Despite not wanting to have anything to do with him, Okada reluctantly stepped into the ring and defeated him in a matter of minutes.

With this in mind, it’s understandable that people are wary of his behavior at All Together Again next June 9th at Ryogoku Kokugikan as he joins Kenoh and Yuma Aoyagi against Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kento Miyahara and none other than Kaito Kiyomiya himself. The show, marking a new collaboration between NJPW, NOAH and AJPW, will be a celebration of the perseverance of pro-wrestling throughout the pandemic, with the tagline “Restart from Chaos.”

For the first two All Together shows, Kazuchika Okada was unable to perform as he had gone on excursion and barely returned around the time of the 2012 edition, not making it in time for it. Missing out on legendary moments that celebrated the glory of professional wrestling, Okada actually suggested an all-star show back in 2020, but the pandemic prevented any development.

Now that he gets to participate in the third installment, The Rainmaker has promised to not act up like he did in January and February this year. Stating that the most important thing is the audience who stuck with pro-wrestling during the pandemic and not the wrestlers themselves, he swore to wrestle without any complaint regardless of what match he gets in the card. “If there is a press conference, I will be there. I will prioritize it over the meat,” said an earnest Okada, “I will show up, for the fans’ sake.”

Of course, Okada’s promise was made before his match was announced, as he had no idea and cared little about who would he face. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion vented that he “had enough of NOAH”, but now he has to stand across his mortal enemy once again, and he has to fulfill his promise. What will go down at Ryogoku Kokugikan next June?
