Syuri to Challenge Athena for the ROH Women’s World Title at Global Wars

The first match for the co-promoted Global Wars event between ROH, CMLL and STARDOM has been announced. In a rematch from this year’s NJPW The New Beginning USA event, Syuri will face off against Athena.

Their previous clash saw Syuri but her IWGP Women’s Championship on the line in New Jersey. This time, the stakes have been reversed, with the ROH Women’s World Championship up for grabs.

Athena is currently over 1,200 days into her reign as champion with close to 40 title defences to her name. Nevertheless, Syuri is a dangerous challenger for any champion in the sport. Having won the first bout at The New Beginning USA, Syuri is one of very few women who have defeated Athena over the past few years.

Global Wars is set to air on June 18th, taking place in Cincinnati, OH.
