Sareee Shoots Back At Mayu Iwatani’s Claim That She Has No Interest Facing Her In Another Match

On Oct. 29th, Sareee was talking with Tokyo Sports and indicated that she would be interested in having another match with current Marigold superstar Mayu Iwatani. Upon hearing this, Iwatani let it be known that, unlike Sareee, she would not have any interest in engaging in another bout. Iwatani said she wouldn’t have anything to gain from such a match with Sareee.

Well, Sareee has shot back at Iwatani with a comment she posted on X in response to her claim of not having interest in facing Sareee again. Sareee posted a picture of their April 2024 STARDOM bout of them shaking hands after Iwatani had defeated Sareee. In the picture, Iwatani is holding up one finger which could be interpreted as Iwatani telling Sareee they should have at least one more match. Sareee seemingly feels this is exactly what Iwatani meant when she held up her finger.

In her comment posted on X, Sareee claimed that Iwatani constantly changes her mind but she won’t change no matter what Iwatani says to her/

“Not interested? Aren’t you going to do it again? Mayu Iwatani, you really do change your mind constantly. But no matter what you say to me, I won’t change.” (Translated by Deepl)

This is an interesting situation, Sareee most likely wants another match with Iwatani to avenge her loss from April 2024 when they battled over the IWGP Women’s Title which was then held by Iwatani. On the other hand, Iwatani has a point when she states she has nothing to gain as she has already defeated Sareee.

If a such a bout were to happen, it would have to be inside a Marigold ring as Iwatani is signed to the promotion unlike Sareee who is currently competing as a freelancer.

One situation to keep an eye on, Iwatani is expected to challenge GHC Women’s Champion Takumi Iroha. Should Iwatani win the GHC Women’s Title, Sareee could campaign for a title shot as she never held the GHC Women’s Title. She would most likely love to defeat Iwatani for that belt if Iwatani does in fact become the champion.

One thing is certain, it is very likely that Iwatani will face Sareee in another singles bout in the future despite Iwatani’s claim of having no interest. Most fans would agree that it would be a travesty if the two superstars don’t meet for another high profile encounter at some point down the road.
