Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena has held the coveted title for nearly four years and has made an incredible 37 straight successful title defenses. It appears that the champion has an idea who she would like to be her 38th challenger for the title.
In response to a Monthly Puroresu article which explained that STARDOM superstar Starlight Kid is hoping to be invited back to AEW after her Forbidden Door appearance, Athena asked for ROH to give her Starlight Kid.
Starlight Kid responded to Athena with one word, “Wow!?”.
Athena has been very familiar with STARDOM talent lately. Her last ROH Women’s Title defense was against Syuri on June 10th and she faced Rina on July 1st in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet #1 Spot Match. Athena was victorious in both bouts.
Starlight Kid unsuccessfully challenged Thekla for the AEW Women’s Title at Forbidden Door 2026 but could possibly have another championship match on American soil in the near future. Of course, the match could very well happen in Japan inside a STARDOM ring.
With Athena expressing interest in facing Kid in a singles bout, countless fans have reacted positively to the potential bout between the two superstars.
As Athena and Starlight Kid both want the bout, it’s now up to Tony Khan and STARDOM President Taro Okada to make the match happen.
