Q&A With Titus Alexander On Pro Wrestling NOAH, Marvelous, Being Accepted In Japan, Masato Tanaka + More!

By: Lewis Carlan

Titus Alexander has enjoy an incredible amount of success since his professional wrestling debut in July 2018. Since his debut, he had built himself up to become one of the top wrestlers on the indy scene in the United States.

With his success on the USA indy scene, it was only a matter of time before he would make his way overseas and showcase his talent in Japan. Alexander made his Pro Wrestling NOAH debut on November 13th 2023 at Monday Magic and, quite frankly, he hasn’t looked back.

Alexander has also competed for Marvelous and Pro Wrestling Zero1 while in Japan. The fan reaction to Alexander has been very positive as his popularity in Japan is on steady incline.

Back in Aug. 2024, Alexander was an entrant in the prestigious Pro Wrestling NOAH N-1 Victory tournament. He finished with 8 points and proved that he can compete with the some of the best Japan has to offer.

Titus Alexander sat down with Monthly Puroresu for an interview as we discussed his time in Japan, the NOAH N-1 Victory 2024 tournament, competing in Marvelous, his hectic travel schedule and more!

Here is the Monthly Puroresu interview with Titus Alexander:

Monthly Puroresu:

You debuted for Marvelous and Pro Wrestling NOAH back in 2023, what led to your debut appearances for each promotion?

Titus Alexander:

I was able to debut for Marvelous and Pro Wrestling NOAH due to the strong relationship between the West Coast Pro promoter and Chigusa Nagayo.

Monthly Puroresu:

How would you describe your time over the last two years in Japan?

Titus Alexander:

The last two years in Japan have taught me so much, as a wrestler and as a person. It’s been super beneficial to me, I’ve built a family here in Japan with Marvelous that I will always cherish.

Monthly Puroresu:

You have made a very positive impression on the fans in Japan which has to be very gratifying. Is this something you were expecting?

Titus Alexander:

I wasn’t expecting such a positive response from the fans in Japan. I don’t think anyone can expect that; coming in and being accepted by the fans was a huge confidence booster.

Monthly Puroresu:

Has competing in Japan tested you abilities as an in ring performer? Was it hard to adapt to the Puroresu style?

Titus Alexander:

Competing in Japan has definitely tested me in about every way possible, mentally, physically, and emotionally. But when you have such a great support system that surrounds you, that’s how you push through. The help and teachings of Chigusa, Takumi Iroha and Mio Momono have definitely helped me adapt.

Monthly Puroresu:

You have had some high profile matches in NOAH including a shot at the GHC National Title then held by Jack Morris back in Jan. 2024. What do you remember about how you felt during that match and are you hoping for another shot at a title within NOAH in 2025.

Titus Alexander:

What I remember from that experience, competing for National Championship, was that I was extremely nervous. Jack Morris is a hell of a competitor, obviously a champion for a reason and was a double champ for a reason. When it comes to title shots, of course I’m hoping for a title shot, especially because I believe they are earned, not given. And I feel like I’m earning my shot.

Monthly Puroresu:

You were in the NOAH N-1 Victory 2024 tournament and faced high profile opponents such as KENOH, Manabu Soya and Alpha Wolf. Do you feel you were a better wrestler after that tournament than you were going in and why do you feel that way?

Titus Alexander:

The N-1 Victory was definitely my biggest challenge, competing with some of the best, and people I’ve watched and studied. After it was said and done, I definitely came out a better wrestler, I think when you wrestle the top guys, win or lose you will come out a better wrestler. It felt great after getting that recognition from KENOH after our Korakuen match.

Monthly Puroresu:

Can we expect to see you in this years N-1 Victory tournament?

Titus Alexander:

This year, the N-1 Victory is definitely a goal of mine.

Monthly Puroresu:

You recently had a match with Masato Tanaka in Marvelous. What are your thoughts about the legend Tanaka-san and how do prepare going into a match that you expect to be a hard hitting one.

Titus Alexander:

Masato Tanaka is a great human being, whether that be in the ring or out. Great person to work with. Going into that match I knew it was going to be a tough fight, it wasn’t going to be easy and it was going to test me mentally and physically.

Monthly Puroresu:

I think you and Kaito Kiyomiya make a great team, could we see more of that team and quite possibly you two challenging for the GHC Tag Team Titles?

Titus Alexander:

Kaito and I definitely make a great team. I think we could definitely take over the heavyweight tag team division. I’m ready too whenever he is.

Monthly Puroresu:

Have NOAH or Marvelous ever discussed you signing a full time contract with them and is that something you would be willing to do?

Titus Alexander:

I’m not sure, I mean I definitely hope that there has been a conversation of a contract, and I’d love to see how that would play out.

Monthly Puroresu:

Do you feel your appearances in NOAH and Marvelous opened the door for more USA talent such as Starboy Charlie and Vinnie Massero to make appearances with the promotions?

Titus Alexander:

I feel like Vinnie and Charlie are amazingly talented themselves, so I had nothing to do with them getting in Japan. I’m just happy I got to be here with them and experience it. It’s where Charlie and I started teaming, growing together, who wouldn’t want to do that with your closest friends.

Monthly Puroresu:

Have you gotten used to the long travel times that you have to endure traveling between the USA and Japan on a seemingly regular basis?

Titus Alexander:

I’d love to say I’ve gotten used to the time difference and that I can get right back on my regular schedule after 5 tours but no it’s definitely still a struggle.

Monthly Puroresu:

Is there one title that you focused on being the first one you win while competing in Japan?

Titus Alexander:

Of course, I want to compete and win all titles in Japan or anywhere but that comes with patience and time. I will be ready whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Monthly Puroresu:

What are your thoughts on OZAWA and would you like an opportunity at some point should he remain champion to be the one to dethrone him?

Titus Alexander:

I haven’t seen much of OZAWA, when I was there, he was on his excursion, and when he came back I left then he also got hurt. But what I have seen of him, he’s definitely skilled. Definitely have made himself the superstar of Pro Wrestling NOAH, I’d love to compete against him and hopefully it would be for the title.

Monthly Puroresu:

What are you goals within NOAH and Marvelous for the remainder of the year and next five years?

Titus Alexander:

My personal goals within Pro Wrestling NOAH is to have more chances to become a main competitor for them. Now within Marvelous, I hope to grow the Marvelous Men’s Division. And also to help Marvelous come to America more.
