Marigold Announces Burning Desire 2025 Card Featuring Double Championship Main Event

By: Thom Fain

TOKYO, JAPAN – Marigold Wrestling has announced the complete card for Burning Desire 2025, scheduled for July 16 at Tokyo’s historic Korakuen Hall, with the event streaming live on Wrestle Universe in English. The show will be headlined by a double championship match featuring Marigold World Champion Utami Hayashishita defending her world title, with the GHC Women’s Champions Takumi Iroha putting her own title on the line.

Hayashishita, who nominated Iroha as her next challenger following her successful defense against MIRAI at Shine Forever 2025, will face her toughest test yet in a winner-take-all encounter. The 25-year-old champion captured the Marigold World Championship on January 3, 2025, by defeating Sareee at First Dream, establishing herself as the promotion’s inaugural world champion.

The card also features former STARDOM ace Mayu Iwatani, who made her Marigold debut in May 2025, teaming with rising star Komomo Minami to face the formidable duo of Mio Momono and Ai Houzan. Iwatani recently captured the Marigold Super Fly Championship at Shine Forever 2025, defeating Victoria Yuzuki to end her 141-day reign, and her presence continues to elevate the promotion’s profile.

The United National Championship will be defended when Mai Sakurai faces Riko Kawahata in what promises to be a technical showcase. Sakurai, who reached the finals of the inaugural Dream★Star GP tournament before falling to Utami Hayashishita, seeks to establish championship credibility against the skilled Kawahata, who represents the visiting Marvelous promotion.

Marigold was founded in April 2024 by former STARDOM co-founder Rossy Ogawa after his dismissal from the promotion in February 2024, and has quickly established itself as a major force in women’s professional wrestling. The promotion’s ability to attract top talent from established companies has created one of the most compelling inter-promotional storylines in Joshi puroresu.

The opening contests feature tag team action with Victoria Yuzuki and Seri Yamaoka taking on the team of Sora Ayame and Senka Akatsuki. All four wrestlers look to climb the promotional hierarchy and earn future championship opportunities.

Burning Desire 2025 represents another significant step in Marigold’s rapid ascension within the Japanese women’s wrestling landscape. The promotion’s commitment to streaming events in English on Wrestle Universe gives them an edge with international focus over rival promotions, delivering an incredible amount of high-quality joshi puroresu on CyberAgent’s multi-platform high def streaming service.

With championship gold on the line and inter-promotional rivalries heating up, July 16 at Korakuen Hall promises to deliver the compelling storytelling and exceptional wrestling that has made Marigold must-see viewing for fans worldwide.
