Kaito Kiyomiya Makes An Interesting Request To Yoshinari Ogawa Following Negative Comments Made Recently

By: Lewis Carlan

Pro Wrestling NOAH superstar Kaito Kiyomiya has become fired up following remarks made about him by NOAH legend Yoshinari Ogawa.

Ogawa was interviewed by Professional Wrestling Martial Arts DX recently and made a comparison between Kiyomiya and Ryohei Oiwa. Ogawa stated he feels Oiwa, who is coming off winning the NJPW G1 Climax 36 tournament, has risen higher than Kiyomiya in the world of pro-wrestling. In fact, Ogawa believes there is a big gap that separates Oiwa and Kiyomiya talentwise.

From Yoshinari Ogawa:

“I trained Kiyomiya too, but he’s gone in a completely different direction, and there’s a big gap between him and Oiwa now. Oiwa has definitely risen higher. There’s a difference between a wrestler who’s happy just for beating a rookie in the first match and a wrestler who wins the G1, right? Well, since we’re talking about Oiwa, let’s leave Kiyomiya out of it.” (English quote translation via Deepl.com)

Naturally this did not sit well with Kiyomiya as he initially posted that the words by Ogawa were “painful”. After his eight man tag team victory on Aug. 22 where he submitted Jun Masaoka with a figure four leg lock, Kiyomiya was fired up during his post-match backstage interview and aimed his comments directly at Ogawa.

Kiyomiya suggested that if he wins the upcoming NOAH N-1 VICTORY tournament that Ogawa has to have a singles match with him.

From Kaito Kiyomiya:

“I saw Mr. Ogawa’s article. It’s a real mess, isn’t it? It’s supposed to be a cheer, right? Well, it really fired me up. If I win N-1, Mr. Ogawa, you’ve got to have a singles match with me. I’ll put on a match that’ll make you think, ‘I want to face this guy in a singles match!’ So be sure to watch this year’s N-1.” (English quote translation via Deepl.com)

Despite Kiyomiya stating he would like a match with Ogawa should he win the N-1 VICTORY tournament this year, the reality is such a bout is not likely to happen. Ogawa is 59 years old and was forced to retire in 2024 due to a neck injury. If anything, Kiyomiya is hoping to earn a more positive opinion from Ogawa in the future.
