Jun Akiyama Literally Gets a Shadow Explosion

The former KO-D Openweight Champion Jun Akiyama wrestled against the team of Atsushi Onita at today’s DDT Big Bang, and he entered the world of explosions.

The legendary Jun Akiyama entered the wonderful world of DDT Pro Wrestling back in 2020, and we can say that he has been having a blast, embracing DDT’s nature and diverse style. Atsushi Onita, on the other hand, literally had a blast with Akiyama’s name on it, as he used his classic barbed wire bat today to hit his opponent. Alongside Sanshiro Takagi and Yusuke Okada, “Team Akiyama” faced Onita, Yoshitatsu and Toy Kojima in an explosive 6-man tag team bout at DDT Big Bang. The match initially was a singles match between Onita and Akiyama, but enough time passed, and it was as chaotic as it was fun. Akiyama definitely was not prepared for the kind of craziness embedded in these matches since their conception at the hands of the man he was facing today. There’s a reason Akiyama was wrestling for All Japan Pro Wrestling back in the 90s.

After the match ended, Onita talked with Yoshitatsu about defending their tag team championships at Yoyogi against Akiyama and Kotaro Suzuki. Yoshitatsu said he accepted the proposal and they will have an All Asia Tag Team Championship match between both teams. Akiyama’s history with All Japan shouldn’t be told by us, but we can’t deny that its interesting see him back in the company or in activities related to the company. Onita is certainly an interesting case, but this rivalry with Akiyama is going to reach new heights as we now we will see gold defended.
