Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr. Will Happen in Japan on February 11

Two highly influential and innovative technical wrestlers will run back their 2023 classic – this time in a New Japan ring.

By: James Carlin

Last October, Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr. had the professional wrestling world talking when they encountered each other in the ring for the first time since 2008. Now the two will face off against this year as the Frontman of TMDK seeks out his first win against the American Dragon in fifteen years on February 11th at New Beginning in Osaka. Danielson currently has a 2-1 singles record against Sabre Jr., defeating him in Coventry in 2008 then at AEW WrestleDream in 2023, but Sabre Jr. has defeated Danielson before, accomplishing the feat in the quarter-finals of the 2009 edition of wXw’s 16 Carat Gold tournament.

Danielson recently teamed with Kazuchika Okada alongside Tomohiro Ishii and Jon Moxley to take on Sabre Jr., Mikey Nicholls, Shane Haste and Kosei Fujita in the main event of New Year’s Dash!!. The American Dragon and The Frontman locked up once more, if only briefly, leading to the challenge being made by Sabre Jr. for Danielson to fight him again, but on his home turf in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Both men are coming off losses inside the Tokyo Dome on January 4th; Danielson lost to The Rainmaker while Sabre Jr.’s historic NJPW World TV Championship reign was ended by Hiroshi Tanahashi, meaning that both men are looking to regain momentum by emerging victorious next month.
