Another Massive STARDOM Return Announced: English Commentary

By: J. Curbelo

STARDOM’s April 23rd “Allstar Grand Queendom” show in Yokohama Arena is shaping up to be the biggest in company history. With the emblematic rivalry between Giulia and Tam Nakano taking center stage, Mayu Iwatani attempting to take Mercedes Moné’s IWGP Women’s Championship, Himeka’s final singles match, KAIRI reuniting with Natsupoi and Saori Anou, and much more, the event warranted English coverage.

Fortunately, STARDOM’s official account confirmed last month English commentary will return to call the action live on PPV.

While this was a small tweet reply without further information, it was at NJPW’s Sakura Genesis where we got recorded confirmation right before Mercedes Moné put the IWGP Women’s title at stake. As Hazuki entered the ring before AZM’s theme started playing, commentator Chris Charlton confirmed All Star Grand Queendom will have live English commentary.

Just a couple of minutes later, Kevin Kelly addressed the elephant in the room by letting audiences know it’s Chris Charlton doing the honors at Yokohama Arena. On April 11th, Charlton let followers know that he would be joined by STARDOM’s English translator and social media admin Sonny Gutierrez, and Momo Kohgo from STARS.

STARDOM hadn’t had any show with English commentary since last year’s Stardom World Climax. Even then, it was a sporadic occurrence, with only the biggest shows having this commodity. This was one of the major complaints and even obstacles for people who were curious about the promotion, but couldn’t familiarize themselves with the company’s narrative and roster.

Fans will be able to watch the show live on pay-per-view after purchase details are announced, or wait three days after the event to watch it on STARDOM World for 920 yen per-month. Should you choose the latter option, you can refer to our guide for everything you need to know about STARDOM’s video-on-demand service.
