The ROH Women’s World Championship match for August 21st’s Death Before Dishonor has been decided. After clashing in trios action on AEW Collision, Hazuki will challenge Athena for the gold.
On ROH TV, Athena had some choice words for her upcoming challenger.
However, despite Athena’s multi-year dominance, Hazuki is intent on making history.
While no Japanese wrestler has held the ROH Women’s World Championship, Sumie Sakai and Mayu Iwatani did hold its forebearer, the Women of Honor Title. Athena has also vanquished several joshi challengers in her time as champion. Miyu Yamashita, Emi Sakura, Yuka Sakazaki, Hikaru Shida, Mina Shirakawa and Syuri have all fallen to The Fallen Goddess in the past. If Hazuki is victorious, she would be ending a reign that has surpassed 1,300 days.
ROH Death Before Dishonor takes place on August 21st at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
