Boltin Oleg Challenges Tomohiro Ishii for the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship at The New Beginning USA

By Noah Leatherland

NJPW have announced another match for the next Stateside show, The New Beginning USA. Boltin Oleg will challenge Tomohiro Ishii for the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship.

Ishii and Oleg have never squared off in a singles match before. Ishii won the NJPW STRONG Openweight Title back at Windy City Riot, taking the belt from Gabe Kidd. Since then, he has made one successful defence, defeating Drilla Moloney at NJPW Resurgence.

The announcement comes hot off the heels of Oleg claiming a different piece of hardware as his own. To kick off The Road to The New Beginning tour, Oleg won the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Titles with Bishamon. As such, Oleg could soon become a double champion.

The only other match confirmed for the show so far will see El Phantasmo defend the NJPW World Television Title against Konosuke Takeshita. NJPW The New Beginning USA takes place on February 27th in Trenton, New Jersey.
