TJPW took their Texas Stampede tour to Dallas, drawing close to 1,500 fans to the College Park Center at the University of Texas at Arlington. This continued the Texas tour’s streak of four-figure attendances.
Sakura Hattori added to the winning streak she has built up since debuting her new persona. Uta Takami was the latest to fall to her rejuvenated might.
Ober Eats added some more wind to their sails in the lead up to their Princess Tag Team Championship defence at TJPW GRAND PRINCESS against The IInspiration. Yuki Kamifuku and Wakana Uehara picked up a victory over Yuki Aino and Vert Vixen, with Kamifuku’s famouser acting as the crucial blow.
Mizuki made one of the most memorable moments of this American tour. She competed in a triple threat against Rika Tatsumi and Hyper Misao. As the action spilled to the outside and up the ramp, Mizuki took to the skies and dove on Tatsumi and Misao off the top of metal entrance frame. From there, Mizuki dragged Misao back to the ring, connected with a diving footstop and picked up the win.
The main event was another preliminary bout for the upcoming Princess of Princess Championship match. Miu Watanabe teamed with Miyu Yamashita to take on Yuki Arai and Shoko Nakajima. Arai’s confidence heading into the title match received a major boost in this tag match. For the first time on the road to TJPW GRAND PRINCESS, Arai landed her Finally axe kick on Watanabe. The blow took Watanabe out of the match, with Nakajima dealing the match winning blow to Yamashita, a diving senton off the top.
Arai shared her delight in the post-match comments:
This was my final warm-up match… I couldn’t win outright, but I managed to land the ‘Finally’ on Miu for the first time, a move I’d never been able to pull off before. So, riding this momentum, I think I can beat Miu on the day! I’ll give it my all!
At the same time, Watanabe expressed her frustrations:
It’s frustrating. In Japan, it feels like our rivalry has just begun, but over in the US, we’ve had two preliminary bouts. In Austin last time, I managed to beat her outright and thought I’d taken a step forward, but even though it wasn’t a direct loss in the end, taking that ‘Finally’ move was incredibly humiliating for me. We’ve clashed a lot in these preliminary bouts, and the gap between me and Arai has closed significantly. I’ve come to really love fighting Arai even more than when the match was first confirmed. Because we’re heading into Ryogoku, my determination not to lose has grown incredibly strong and intense. This card is the final preliminary bout, and I’m so glad to be sharing it with Nakajima and Arai alongside Yamashita; it’s really fired me up. I will definitely retain my title.
