After defeating Tama Tonga, the “Rampage Dragon” Shingo Takagi became the new NEVER Openweight Champion. Takagi was one of the highlights in New Japan Pro Wrestling during the pandemic era, and his title reign with the NEVER title was fantastic. Takagi defeated Tama and was instantly looking for new challengers to make this championship prestigious again. Takagi’s offer was answered by none other than the CHAOS member, Trent Beretta.

Trent was the only one to challenge Takagi, but not the only one to have manifested interest in Takagi after his victory. One of the wrestlers that have been on the watch for Takagi has been the now hottest free agent in the Puroresu market, Katsuhiko Nakajima. We know both Takagi and Nakajima had a fantastic singles match early this year, and what could be better than repeating it on the same stage? The NEVER Openweight Championship has never been as prestigious as it was when Takagi was the champion, and with both these men interested in the belt, we may be in the beginning of a big title reign.
Congratulations Shingo Takagi!!
So what’s next!? I’m all free.#njpw#shingotakagi https://t.co/BymzxncKXV— 中嶋勝彦 Katsuhiko Nakajima (@Katsuhiko_N311) October 29, 2023
