Ryo Mizunami and Manami Win Sendai Girls World Tag Team Titles at Packed Korakuen Hall Event

By Noah Leatherland

Sendai Girls packed Korakuen Hall with fans for a stacked card, main evented with Yurika Oka and Mio Momono defending the promotion’s tag team titles. However, the closing moments of the night saw Ryo Mizunami and Manami holding those titles aloft.

Mizunami was the one that secured the win for her team, landing a Hot Limit on Oka and scoring the pinfall. She paired the championship victory by announcing that she has officially rejoined the Sendai Girls roster.

The tag belts were not the only pieces of hardware on the line in Korakuen Hall. Senka Akatsuki made the first defence of her Sendai Girls World Junior Heavyweight Title, putting it on the line against Spike Nishimura. Akatsuki maintained her hold on the title thanks to her strong fundamentals, locking Nishimura in a cradle pin for a three-count.

The event also played host to some major non-title bouts. The hardcore match between DASH Chisako and Kuroshio TOKYO Japan brought plenty of pulse-elevating stunts. Chisako’s dives off of ladders saw her crashing down on her opponent through tables at ringside, while another splash off the ladder in the ring was the finishing blow. After the victory, Chisako took to the microphone to talk about her upcoming 20th anniversary event. She announced that on July 20th, she will face NJPW’s El Desperado in a hardcore match.

The Sendai Girls World Champion, Chihiro Hashimoto, was also in action. She did battle with STARDOM’s Syuri in a non-title bout. Hashimoto would fall to Syuri, the referee stopping the bout while Hashimoto was locked in Syuri’s sleeper hold. Picking up the win, Syuri took the microphone to affirm her intent to secure the Sendai Girls World Championship.
