Ogawa took to social media on April 30th and indicated that he will turn 70 next year and it will be his 50th year involved in pro-wrestling. He admitted his long journey is approaching it’s final stretch.

From Rossy Ogawa:

“On May 1, I turned 69. Life is a series of steps forward and backward. Even this long journey is now slowly approaching its final stretch. Personally, I’ll be celebrating my 70th birthday next year, and my professional wrestling career will mark its 50th anniversary. As long as I have goals, I’ll keep giving it my all, so I look forward to your continued support.” (Translated via Deepl.com)

In a recent interview with BBM-Japan, the topic of Ogawa’s age was brought up and he stated considering his heath and stamina, he figures he can keep running Marigold at the same pace for maybe another five years. Ogawa said he would eventually have to find his successor and was asked if there were any candidates he was considering to which Ogawa revealed who is the top candidate on his list.

From Rossy Ogawa:

“The top candidate is Takahiro Masumura (events manager) judging by the trust the wrestlers have in him, Natsumi Showzuki is helping with the accounting, and it’s been a great help, the flow of money has become transparent. (H/T goes to ERD Wrestling for the English quote translation)

Rossy Ogawa revealed during the interview that Marigold will see new talent debuting soon which includes a “secret weapon”. You can read about that here.

In addition, Ogawa believes the countdown for Mayu Iwatani’s retirement has begun, which can be read here.

Marigold’s next major event MARIGOLD SHINE FOREVER 2026 is set for May 23rd at Ota City General Gymnasium.
