Pro Wrestling NOAH Superstar Naomichi Marufuji Celebrates His 28th Anniversary as a Pro-Wrestler

The current Pro Wrestling NOAH GHC National Champion and perennial superstar Naomichi Marufuji celebrated his 28th anniversary as a pro-wrestler on Aug. 28th.

Marufuji took to X and issued a celebratory post marking his 28th anniversary.

From Naomichi Marufuji:

Good morning! Thanks to all of you, August 28 marks my 28th anniversary as a professional wrestler. I’m now entering my 29th year! A few years ago, I thought my physical condition could only decline from there. But lately, I’ve been feeling better and stronger than ever. I’m truly grateful for all your continued support.Please keep cheering for me as I enter this new chapter!

Marufuji began his in-ring career with All Japan Pro-Wrestling on Aug. 28th 1998 at AJPW Summer Action Series II. His first ever match was against Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Marufuji came out on the losing end of his debut bout.

Marufuji was part of the mid 2000 mass exodus from AJPW led by Mitsuharu Misawa to form Pro Wrestling NOAH.

One of the feuds that brought NOAH into prominence was the early Marufuji vs KENTA rivalry. The two of them proved to be absolute superstars and every singles match they had reached legendary status.

In his 28 years, Marufuji has amassed numerous championships including the GHC Heavyweight Championship (4x) the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship, the GHC Tag Team Championship (10x), the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship and AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Championship.

Marufuji is the current GHC National Champion and VP of Cyberfight.

Marufuji’s next GHC National Championship defense is set for Sept. 15th against AMAKUSA.
