Highly regarded as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world today, Japan’s first transgender wrestler and prominent freelancer ASUKA, known as VENY internationally, has made waves in the last few years. Most recently challenging MAO for DDT’s Universal Championship, as well as taking part in a three-way match against Kaori Yoneyama and Yoshiko in SEAdLINNNG, ASUKA is a former Beyond The Sea champion and current Beyond the Sea tag team champion alongside Makato.

With their United States debut coming up in August, there’s no better time to start watching ASUKA. ASUKA’s surprise match against Kagetsu, at the 2021 Hana Kimura Memorial Show, was a dream encounter that exceeded expectations. An already hugely versatile performer at the age of 23, there’s no telling what the future may hold for a star that’s still yet to shine as bright as it could. But, in a few years’ time you can bet Monthly Puroresu will say “We told you so” when ASUKA becomes the next big star in the industry.
