The joshi scene is filled with Emi Sakura’s students, but few shine with the brightness that Mei Suruga does. For four years Mei has been rapidly rising the ranks, proving her ability both in and out of the ring thanks in part to the unique structure of ChocoPro.

Give her an opening and she’ll run a mile, implementing high speed misdirection tactics with potent submissions and flash pins. However that’s only half the story. Don’t let Mei’s cheerful outgoing demeanour fool you – she’s been nicknamed the Apple Goblin for a reason. She’s not afraid to bend the rules to her favor or flat out bite opponents when things aren’t going her way.
Alongside Baliyan Akki as the Best Bros, Mei Suruga enjoyed a lengthy year plus reign as the Asia Dream Tag Champions, obliterating the title’s defence record during that time. The partnership has highlighted Mei’s natural charisma which is arguably her strongest asset, allowing her to command the attention of the room in spite of her small stature.
pic.twitter.com/ipo8zIQ5zG

Gatoh Move and ChocoPro might be her home, but she’s spread her wings to further expand her name. Mei entered AEW’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament and spent time in America as a part of the Killer Queens. Back in Japan she’s also enjoyed runs in the two biggest joshi promotions: TJPW and STARDOM.
At just 23 years of age, Mei Suruga is already blazing a path for herself that will lead her to heights far greater than her own. In Mei’s own words, she is “perfectly fine”. And that’s why she is Monthly Puroresu’s One to Watch!
