Ober Eats Wins TJPW Max Heart Tournament as MIRAI Retains International Princess Title

By Noah Leatherland

The TJPW Max Heart Tournament finals took place in Korakuen Hall, with the reigning tag team champions Yuki Kamifuku and Wakana Uehara claiming the trophy. Meanwhile, MIRAI had her first successful defence of the International Princess Title, with a new challenger making themselves known.

The Max Heart Tournament boiled down to two final teams, the Princess Tag Team Champions, Ober Eats, and the duo of Mizuki and Uta Takami. With the stakes as high as they were, all four competitors gave it their all. In the end, Kamifuku and Uehara emerged as the victors, reaffirming their spot at the peak of the TJPW tag division.

Ober Eats will head into TJPW GRAND PRINCESS next month as champions, with their challengers to be decided. But for Mizuki and Takami, it seems their time as a team is not over.

Mizuki: Thanks to Takami, I was able to enjoy this tournament and push myself to the limit. Even though our match today was fun, that’s precisely why it was so frustrating.

Takami: We’ve created so many miracles together in this tournament. Just because we lost doesn’t mean the dream ends—it’s far from over.

Meanwhile, in the semi-main event, MIRAI made her first defence of the International Princess Title against Toga. While Toga fought hard in her first ever championship singles match, MIRAI managed to knock her down for a three count with a crunching lariat.

MIRAI took to the microphone after the match, and singled out who she wanted to face her at TJPW GRAND PRINCESS. MIRAI invited her former tag team partner, Suzume, to the ring. Suzume appeared and answered the call:

I’d been wanting to fight you too. We met as rookies in Tokyo Joshi and each grew stronger. Now I realise that without MIRAI, I wouldn’t be who I am today. But as long as you hold that belt, I can’t just settle for wanting to fight you as a fellow rookie. I will take the precious Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling belt. Put that belt on the line and fight me.

MIRAI gladly accepted:

Let’s clash with our present selves. MIRAI stands in Ryogoku bearing the weight of Michinoku Pro Wrestling. I look forward to it.
