New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced today that Drilla Moloney suffered an injury to his right tricep. It was confirmed that the injury occurred at the NJPW Road To THE NEW BEGINNING event on Feb. 3rd in Iwaki, Fukushima.
After meeting with doctors, it was decided to allow Moloney to continue to compete in his upcoming matches at Road To THE NEW BEGINNING events. Being able to wrestle while injured came at the request of Moloney.
Moloney will be closely watched and monitored by all medical staff as he continues his in-ring competition while injured.
Here is the official statement from NJPW:
“Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling. On February 3’s live event in Iwaki, Fukushima, Drilla Moloney sustained an injury to his right triceps. At his personal request, and after consultation with medical staff, Moloney will compete in all remaining matches during the Road to The New Beginning tour as scheduled. Moloney will continue to be closely monitored by trainers and ring doctors. NJPW wishes Moloney a speedy recovery, and encourages fans to continue lending him their support.”
On Feb. 7th, Moloney is set to team with IWGP Heavyweight & IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji & Daiki Nagao as they face Jake Lee, Great-O-Khan & Zane Jay in Osaka.
