Today marks 12 years since a massive earthquake hit the Tohoku prefecture, leaving an aftermath of destruction all over the East side of Japan. STARDOM’s MIRAI, who hails from the city of Iwate, was in fifth grade when the seism happened. She stated that she vividly remembers the surreal visual of her city being turned upside down.
Despite the trauma, MIRAI would eventually find her ultimate life goal through natural disaster. As people within Japan and all over the world offered their aid to recover the affected areas, pro wrestling stepped up as well. New Japan ran several shows in the town’s renowned fishing market. MIRAI, daughter to a fisherman, attended a show and immediately fell in love.
The God’s Eye member mentioned that she was particularly captivated by NJPW’s Ace, Hiroshi Tanahashi. “The way he made me feel like I was fighting with him gave me the energy to keep on living,” gushed MIRAI, “I couldn’t do it yet, but I knew I wanted to wrestle.”

Twelve years later, MIRAI found herself leading her teammates to victory against STARS by pinning Saya Iida. To win a match on this date was particularly special for her, but it won’t stop there. MIRAI is scheduled to join Ami Sohrei and challenge for the Goddess of STARDOM Tag Team Championships once again, this time facing champions Yuu and Nanae Takahashi on April 23rd’s Allstar Grand Queendom. “I love my hometown. I want to win the Goddess belts to bring more life to Iwate through professional wrestling.”
