As Mai Sakurai is set to depart Marigold on Oct. 24th at GRAND DESTINY 2026 to deal with injuries and medical conditions, her former tag team partner is already calling for a reunion between the two.
MIRAI, who is the current GHC Women’s Champion and one half of the JTO GIRLS Tag Team Champions, spoke with reporters recently and expressed hope that she & Sakurai could reunite and compete together as a team once again. MIRAI fully understands she can’t ask Sakurai right away following her departure from Marigold in 9 days due to the circumstances.
From MIRAI:
“I want to team up with her [Mai Sakurai] again and compete. Fans have also been asking to see ‘Mirai-Sak’ again. After all, I can’t just say, ‘Come on, come on!’ to someone who’s saying they want to take a break. Right now, it’s important to prioritize how she feels.” (English translation via Deepl.com)

MIRAI & Mai Sakurai began teaming in STARDOM and found great success in Marigold. The duo were the first ever Marigold Twin Star Champions and were the Twin Star Cup Tournament winners in Dec. 2024.
MIRAI left Marigold in Oct. 2025 and joined Michinoku Pro-Wrestling. She teamed with Sakurai in her final bout for Marigold on Oct. 13th 2025.
If Sakurai decides to compete again after she is fully healed and 100%, there is no guarantee she will be returning to Marigold. Sakurai could very well reunite with MIRAI to reform their very successful tag team and chase more titles together.
