Marigold World Champion Miku Aono Sets Her Sights on the GHC Women’s Title

The current Marigold World Champion Miku Aono is looking to become a double titleholder.

During a recent interview, as reported by Tokyo Sports, Aono revealed that she has placed the GHC Women’s Championship, currently held by MIRAI, in her crosshairs. She stated the reasoning for her interest in the GHC Women’s Title is the desire that more people learn about her as a pro-wrestler.

From Miku Aono:

“I feel like I’ve been leading from the front, but I’m also aware that I haven’t fully become the ‘face’ yet. With the younger talent growing so fast, I have to go even higher. There are still plenty of belts I want in Marigold too. If I want more people to know about me, it might also make sense to look elsewhere. I once competed in the Rumble for the inaugural (GHC) title. Kouki Amarei and Mayu Iwatani held it, and now it’s with MIRAI, so I’m really interested in that belt.”

Aono has been the Marigold World Champion since Oct. 26, 2025 and, as a fighting champion, has made six straight successful title defenses.

MIRAI won the GHC Women’s Championship back on June 15th and has yet to defend the title. Her first championship defense is set for Sept. 22 against Nagisa Nozaki.

You can bet Aono will be watching that GHC Women’s Championship bout on Sept. 22 very intently with her desire to get that belt around her waist and in her possession.

Aono is currently competing in the Marigold DREAM STAR GP tournament which just got underway. In her first tournament bout, she went to a time limit draw with Misa Matsui.
