At the Oct. 3rd Marigold BATTLE HEARTS 2026 event, Marigold superstar Mai Sakurai delivered a surprising announcement by revealing she will be leaving the promotion with her last date set for Oct. 24th.

During her backstage post-match comments from Oct. 3rd, Sakurai offered this statement:

From Mai Sakurai:

“I’m truly sorry for surprising everyone with this sudden announcement. But since this is something I’ve been struggling with for a long time, my resolve is unwavering. I want to repay all the wrestlers, staff, and everyone involved for taking care of me over the past two and a half years right there in the ring, and I hope to face my final match with a smile. Please continue to support Marigold.”

In a statement from Marigold owner Rossy Ogawa, he clarified that Sakurai is leaving the promotion because she has been dealing with injuries and medical conditions for quite some time.

Today, Mai Sakurai took to X and posted another statement in which she once again announced she will be leaving Marigold. In addition she apologized to the fans a second time and confirmed how many more Marigold events she will be competing in before she leaves the promotion.

From Mai Sakurai:

“I would like to make this announcement once again. Following the event at Ryogoku Kokugikan on October 24, I will be leaving the Marigold team. I apologize for the sudden announcement. My remaining events will be at Korakuen Hall and Ryogoku Kokugikan. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me thus far, and I intend to give my all until the very end. Thank you for your continued support.”

• Oct. 11 Marigold BATTLE HEARTS 2026 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

Sakurai has been with Marigold since it’s inception and competed on the promotions first event which was May 20th 2024 at Marigold Fields Forever. Sakurai was part of the initial mini-exodus of STARDOM pro-wrestlers that followed Rossy Ogawa to form Marigold back in 2024.
