Keiji Muto’s retirement show was an emotional rollercoaster, an outpour of appreciation for the sport. However, there was no love lost between the IWGP and GHC (World) Heavyweight Champions, Kazuchika Okada and Kaito Kiyomiya. A heated rivalry, months in the making, coming to its climax today at the Tokyo Dome.
After a match filled with the same intensity that made people question if The Rainmaker was in his right state of mind, Kiyomiya fell to the plethora of special moves Okada had ready for his despised enemy. The Supernova was up to the test, and under normal circumstances it could’ve been anyone’s match, but the rage within NJPW’s golden standard was immeasurable.

After so much taunting, so many verbal and physical attacks, the feeling of defeat was too much for Kiyomiya, who had to be carried backstage to give his comments on the match, but ended up plummeting to the floor, unable to speak.
“It would’ve been fun if you won”, claimed Jake Lee as showed up to add insult to injury. “You should take a break from holding the belt now. I will take it from you and make NOAH rich. I will challenge you,” Lee told a nearly breathless Kiyomiya. The champion did not reply, or even react, to Jake Lee’s hostile comments, and left the room on his own by literally crawling.
