New Japan Pro Wrestling presented their yearly event Wrestling Dontaku, and in this show many things happened such as the return of Jon Moxley to Japan, Nic Nemeth’s victory over Hiroshi Tanahashi, and of course, Jeff Cobb’s dominance over now former NJPW World Television Champion, Zack Sabre Jr.
The battle between the TMDK Frontman and the United Empire’s prolific powerhouse was really a sight to behold, but despite what many people wanted to believe, Cobb got the upper hand and with pure power on his side he became a singles champion for the first time in five years. The match itself was a test of might, in which ZSJ’s performance stood out but was not enough to take down Cobb who had given United Empire a bottle of water in the middle of the desert.

The NJPW World Television Title remains one of the most consistent belts in New Japan due to its premise, and while ZSJ certainly embodies the spirit of that belt we think it’s time to see the Frontman aim higher. Congratulations to Cobb on winning his first singles title in New Japan after overcoming ZSJ who already defeated him before.
