NJPW took the Super Jr Tag League to Okayama for the final night of B Block action. There, Kosei Fujita and Robbie Eagles scored a vital win to put themselves into the tournament finals at NJPW Power Struggle.
Three teams entered Okayama on 6 points, all with pathways to the final. The first of those three up was AEW’s The Swirl, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson. They came up against the United Empire duo of Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young. The Swirl’s dynamic tag team offense paved a way to victory, clinching the win by landing the Brainrot on Young. That gave The Swirl an important 2 points and pushed them up into first place.
Next up, the main event saw YOH and Hyo face the Ichiban Sweet Boys. Having lost to The Swirl in the blocks, YOH and Hyo were mathematically eliminated from advancing. On the other side, a win for Fujita and Eagles would move them on, holding a tiebreaker win over Christian and Johnson. Even with nothing to play for, the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion and his partner from Dragongate put up a strong fight. However, TMDK’s will to reach the finals was just too strong. Eagles and Fujita secured the win by hitting the Interceptor on Hyo, claiming the points and the place in finals.
It was not long before the A Block winners, Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X, made their way to the ring. There, the two sides exchanged words before they meet at NJPW Power Struggle.
Ishimori:
Fujita, Robbie! It’s you guys again? Oh well, no matter who we’re up against, our game plan won’t change! We’ll definitely clinch the victory we missed out on last year!
Fujita:
Together—you guys and us—let’s show the world what New Japan’s Juniors are all about!
Speaking in the backstage comments, Fujita doubled down on that sentiment of showing the spirit of NJPW:
The team of Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X. They’re the best. Like I said in the ring, let’s show the world what we’ve got. AEW, WWE—I don’t care about any of that anymore. New Japan is number one. Let’s show them. If you haven’t bought a ticket for the Hiroshima show yet, you absolutely have to get one.
