Hayabusa Reflects on Loss to Tsugutaka Sato at ZERO1 Fire Festival 2026 Day 6

By: Ian McCord

On July 11th, the sixth day of Pro Wrestling ZERO1’s Fire Festival 2026 took place at Tokyo Square in Itabashi, with four tournament matches scheduled for the event.

One of the major stories coming out of Itabashi on Day 6 was last year’s Fire Festival winner, Hayabusa, losing his second straight match of the tournament, falling victim to Tsugutaka Sato in his latest Block B outing.

Tsugutaka Sato, one half of the NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Champions with Junya Matsunaga, defeated Hayabusa in just under 20 minutes via pinfall after connecting with a huge lariat. The win over Hayabusa gives Sato his first two points of the tournament.

Hayabusa came into the 2026 Fire Festival with aspirations of going undefeated in the tournament, and ultimately reclaiming the Fire Sword for a second year in a row. After two straight losses, Hayabusa needs to shift gears if he hopes to make those aspirations a reality.

Hayabusa took to social media following the event, sharing his frustrations over the loss, and how he has no room for error for the remainder of the tournament.

From Hayabusa via X:

“It hurts—this loss really hurts. I tried to put on a brave face, saying, ‘It’s a baby shower gift,’ but that was just the howl of a loser. I wanted to win at all costs. I don’t think I underestimated him, but maybe I was a little overconfident… It’s so frustrating. Now I’m 1-2. I really have no room for error. I can’t afford another loss. With two matches left, I have to win no matter what.”

Hayabusa’s next opponent is Daichi Hashimoto on July 25th at the Yokohama Radiant Hall and then Yuko Miyamoto the next day at Urayasu Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay. If Hayabusa hopes to make it to the finals in Korakuen Hall, these next two matches are must win situations.

ZERO1 Fire Festival 2026 returns on July 18th at Shin-Kiba 1stRING with 3 tournament matches scheduled for the card, including Daichi Hashimoto vs. Tsugutaka Sato.
