News from today’s Marigold press conference began swirling on X, as puroresu journalist Norihiro Hashimoto broadcasted that the Oct 24 Ryogoku show now includes an “Inter-Industry Fighting Match” featuring Megaton.
Gravure idol Chitose Yoshino stepped up to face Marigold’s lovable loser at the world-famous Ryogoku Kokugikan during Marigold’s marquee Fall event. The unexpected challenge is sure to raise eyebrows among Yoshino’s 1M+ social media followers as she enters the world of joshi puroresu for the first time.
Yoshino trained at the Marigold dojo in July.
Yoshino has kickboxing experience and Megaton has pro wrestling experience, and the veteran reporter quotes Yoshino as saying she wants to show she is not just cute. We are awaiting official confirmation as to what moves are allowed or how a winner is decided, although for Megatron’s sake, perhaps the fewer the better.
The bout is reportedly scheduled to be two rounds, of two minutes each.
Yoshino is a member of the idol group Amaimono Tsumeawase. On Jul 10 she joined a practice session at Marigold’s dojo, her first time in a ring, and showcased her kicking prowess in World champion Miku Aono’s former ring gear. She said she is interested in a pro wrestling debut and would train seriously if she did one, and that she has done kickboxing, albeit mainly for fitness. No formal debut was announced today.
Megaton: Marigold’s Loveable Loser and Her Quest For a Victory
Megaton debuted on Jan 11, 2025 at 176BOX in Osaka and lists her birthplace as “Megaton Star”. Monthly Puroresu counted 65 straight losses, and I was on hand for the call when she finally broke the dubious streak, defeating Kuroshio Tokyo Japan for the Independent Junior Heavyweight Championship. On Oct 10 at Korakuen Hall she lost the title to Hanazono Momoka, in her fourth defense.
The Oct 24 pay-per-view, Marigold GRAND DESTINY 2026, streams live on Wrestle Universe.
