On July 20th, Sendai Girls World Champion Chihiro Hashimoto successfully defended her title against STARDOM superstar and IWGP Women’s Champion Syuri. The victory was the seventh time Hashimoto, who is in her sixth reign as champion, was able to retain the belt.
Back in April 2025, Hashimoto successfully defended her title against another STARDOM superstar in Maika.
Now, Hashimoto is looking to take on the entire promotion of STARDOM. There is little debate that STARDOM is the currently hottest promotion in Japan and Hashimoto wants that to change.
Hashimoto spoke with Tokyo Sports and indicated that she believes Sendai Girls can pass STARDOM in popularity. The Sendai Girls World Champion is confident enough to make it a goal of hers.
From Chihiro Hashimoto:
“I think YouTube and TikTok are especially powerful when it comes to reaching younger generations. Because of that, I believe Sendai Girls will attract more younger fans in the future. Even judging by our fanbase, I can see an opportunity to win. We only have 12 wrestlers on the roster, but I want to show that we can beat STARDOM.”
There is no question that Sendai Girls Pro-Wrestling is on a huge upswing with Hashimoto & Mika Iwata leading the charge. To overcome STARDOM is a very, very tall task but one Chihiro Hashimoto appears ready to take on.
