Sendai Girls Wild Horse Tournament Kicks Off in Shin-Kiba 1st RING

By: Noah Leatherland

Sendai Girls have kicked off this year’s edition of the Wild Horse Tournament in Shin-Kiba 1st RING. The tournament is for rookie wrestlers within the first three years of their in-ring debut, with last year’s won by Marvelous’ Senka Akatsuki.

Once the ceremonial introductions were complete, the first round matches got underway. Most of the field received a first round bye, with four competitors vying for the remaining two slots left in the second round. First up, Ice Ribbon’s Kirari Wakana did battle with CoCo of MYWAY. Wakana secured her spot in the next round, taking advatnage of CoCo missing a 450 splash, and hitting her with a diving footstomp.

Then, Sendai Girls’ own Reina Takano took on STARDOM’s Matoi Hamabe. Hamabe proved to be too tall a task for Takano, with Hamabe forcing a submission with a Boston Crab just shy of the seven minute mark.

From there, the second round was completed in full in Shin-Kiba 1st RING. Sendai Girls were again represented, this time by recent arrival Lady Leigh. However, Leigh fell to the Marvelous’ Sora Ayame and her tricky pinning combinations.

Next up, SEAdLINNNG’s Lana Hisaki took on Pro Wrestling Evolution’s Soy. Despite’s Hisaki’s fire, Soy emerged the victor, driving Hisaki into the canvas with a spear.

Following her opening match victory, Kirari Wakana was back in action for her second round contest. There, she faced Evolution’s Chika. Chika used her size advantage to full effect, scoring a pin off her Whirlpool judo throw.

Then, the main event saw Matoi Hamabe return to the ring to face Up Town’s Saira. Saira had an impressive showing, landing a beautiful Shooting Star Press, but missed her version of the Skytwister Press. This set Hamabe up to lock in the cross armbar to force a submission.

As such, the semi-finals are set. The match-ups are as follows:

  • Sora Ayame (Marvelous) vs. Chika (Evolution)
  • Matoi Hamabe (STARDOM) vs. Soy (Evolution)

The next round of the Sendai Girls Wild Horse Tournament will take place on November 6th in Sendai PIT.
