Starlight Kid Feels Disappointment After Losing To Hanan at STARDOM 5★STAR GP, Gears Up For Next Match Against Momo Watanabe

On Aug. 1st, STARDOM held its seventh day of STARDOM 5★STAR GP 2026 action as the tournament landed in Sendai at a sold out Sendai PIT.

Starlight Kid, one of the favorites to win the tournament, competed in her second STARDOM 5★STAR GP 2026 match as she faced the current Wonder of STARDOM Champion Hanan.

The last time Starlight Kid and Hanan faced off in a singles bout was back in March 2024 in a Cinderella Tournament 2024 Quarter Final match. Hanan was victorious over Starlight Kid in that encounter and Kid was looking to prevent Hanan from taking two straight singles wins over her.

In addition, Starlight Kid was looking for her first STARDOM 5★STAR GP 2026 victory after battling Saya Kamitani to a draw on July 28th.

Unfortunately for Starlight Kid, she tasted defeat as she was pinned by Hanan with a Wrist-Clutch Backdrop hold. The loss gave Hanan two straight singles wins over Starlight Kid and raised her point total in the Blue Stars B Block to six which puts her in a tie with Momo Watanabe for first place of the respective block. Starlight Kid remains at just one point in the tournament.

Starlight Kid expressed her disappointment and frustration following the loss during her post-match backstage comments. She gave her next opponent, Momo Watanabe, a warning saying she is going to finish her off for good when they meet on Aug. 2nd.

From Starlight Kid:

“Hanan I told me that if I win the red belt, we’ll have a two-belt title match. Of course! I’d love to take her up on that, too. That’s exactly why I have to win this championship—and why I have to go after that red belt even more than ever. I lost today, but Hanan is basically telling me to go win the championship, right? When that happens, I’ll stand right in front of you again. I’ll defend the white belt, so just wait for me. And tomorrow, it’s Momo Watanabe! She’s last year’s champion. I really can’t afford to drop any points right now. Well, what was the reason Momo was out last time, anyway…? Tomorrow, I’m going in to finish her off for good. Beating last year’s champion would give me a huge confidence boost, so I’m definitely not going to lose tomorrow! Momo Watanabe, brace yourself and wait for me.” (Translation via Deepl.com)

Starlight Kid then took to social media to further express her disappointment about the loss to Hanan at the STARDOM 5★STAR GP 2026.

From Starlight Kid:

“Hanan’s wrist-clutch back drop was just too powerful. As expected of the reigning Wonder Champion. I’m frustrated with myself for losing two straight matches to Hanan, but I want to make what she said a reality too! I’ll definitely bounce back from here. There’s so much I want to do once I win the championship!!!!” (Translation via Deepl.com)

Despite the slow start and frustration on the part of Starlight Kid, there is a long way to go in STARDOM 5★STAR GP 2026 tournament and even though she has accumulated only one point, Starlight Kid remains one of the favorites to win the entire tournament.
