Hayabusa Defeats Daichi Hashimoto at ZERO1 Fire Festival 2026 Day 8 in Yokohama

Yokohama Radiant Hall was the place to be for Day 8 of Pro Wrestling ZERO1’s Fire Festival 2026, with three tournament matches taking place on the card.

It was a must-win situation for last year’s Fire Festival winner, Hayabusa, entering his second-to-last match of Block B competition. Coming into Yokohama with only two points, Hayabusa needed to defeat Daichi Hashimoto to keep his hopes alive of advancing to the tournament finals.

During the Yokohama main event, Hayabusa did just that, defeating Hashimoto in (18:24) after putting the BJW star away with a Firebird Splash for the three count.

After the match, Hayabusa took to his X account to share his thoughts on the outcome of Day 8. The Phoenix welcomed the idea of a rematch with Hashimoto, stating that all of his attacks rocked him to the core. Hayabusa concluded his post stating that he will win in his final Block B match on July 26th and earn his way into the Fire Festival Finals.

“Daichi Hashimoto was strong. I knew it, but he was really strong. Every move hit me right in the core—I thought my body was going to break. I have no intention of just winning and running away like this. Let’s do this as many times as it takes, Daichi Hashimoto. And there’s just one more match left in the #FireFestival2026 official tournament. Today’s victory should have kept me in the running by the skin of my teeth. I will definitely win tomorrow, advance to the finals, and take the championship. The real fun is just beginning.”

For Hayabusa to make it to the Finals, he must earn two points by defeating Yuko Miyamoto, and Katsuhiko Nakajima must lose in his match to Tsugataka Sato on July 26th. That outcome would result in Hayabusa and Nakajima ending the day tied for the top spot in Block B with six points.

In the semi-main event, Katsuhiko Nakajima defeated Koji Doi to jump to first place in Block B with six points. If victorious in the aforementioned match against Tsugataka Sato, Nakajima will walk right into Korakuen Hall for the Fire Festival Finals on August 7th.

Elsewhere on the card for Block A, Masato Tanaka jumped to seven points after his victory over Ryunosuke Nagai following his signature Sliding D finisher. Tanaka, who just celebrated 33 years since his debut in professional wrestling, is currently tied with Shuji Ishikawa for first place in Block A. If Tanaka can defeat the ZERO1 World Heavyweight Champion Junya Matsunaga on July 26th, and Ishikawa is bested by Kuroshio TOKYO Japan, he may find himself in another Fire Festival Final.

ZERO1 Fire Festival 2026 will continue on July 26th at the Urayasu Oriental Hotel Tokyo Bay and will include Junya Matsunaga vs. Masato Tanaka, Shuji Ishikawa vs. Kuroshio TOKYO Japan, Hayabusa vs. Yuko Miyamoto, and Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Tsugutaka Sato.
