NJPW were in the striking KBS Hall in Kyoto for the seventh day of the Best of the Super Juniors. With A Block in focus, Titan suffering his first loss of the tournament allowed Jun Kasai and Master Wato to close the gap on the leaderboard.
Titan had a spotless record heading into Kyoto, winning five straight block matches to reach 10 points. However, the luchador finally stumbled. He came up against Robbie X in an all Unbound Co. affair. Robbie X’s high flying skills led him to victory, bringing him up to 6 points in the race to top the blocks.
In the main event, Jun Kasai did battle with AEW’s Nick Wayne. Wayne started the match hot taking it to the veteran, but he did end up suffering the wrath of Kasai’s extreme stylings.
Kasai finished off his young opponent with his cross arm piledriver, moving himself up to 8 points, just 2 away from Titan. Earlier on the card, Master Wato had also risen to 8 points. He was facing off against CMLL’s Valiente Jr. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, who recently announced his retirement, was on commentary for this match. Wato landed the Tenzan’s signature TTD on his way to victory, following it with his German suplex to pin Valiente Jr.
NJPW Best of the Super Juniors is back in action on May 27th in Numazu, where B Block will be back in action.
