The Great Sasuke and Fuminori Abe to Challenge for International Lightweight Tag Titles at ZERO1 Urayasu Event on 5/2

The International Lightweight Tag Team Championships will be on the line when ZERO1 returns to Urayasu on May 2nd. Champions Yuki Toki and Van Vert Jack are scheduled to defend the titles against the team of Fuminori Abe and The Great Sasuke.

Yuki Toki and Van Vert Jack won the International Lightweight Tag titles on April 3rd at ZERO1’s 25th Anniversary event. The duo defeated Takuya Sugawara and Bryan Ishizaka to capture the vacant championships that sat dormant since 2020.

Fuminori Abe announced his intention to challenge for the Lightweight Tag Titles at ZERO1’s event with 2AW on April 11th. In a video message posted to ZERO1’s social media, Abe revealed that he would be joining forces with The Great Sasuke to challenge for the titles at ZERO1’s Urayasu event on May 2nd.

This is not the first time Abe and The Great Sasuke have united as a team. The two Jr. Heavyweight stars teamed up at Strong Style Pro Wrestling’s 20th anniversary in June of 2025, in a losing effort to Dick Togo and Ikuto Hidaka.

Both Yuki Toki and Van Vert Jack would respond to Abe’s challenge on social media, both excited for the opportunity to defend their titles against seasoned vets such as Abe and The Great Sasuke.

From Van Vert Jack:

“My first title defense is against Abe and Sasuke!! Sure, they’re seasoned pros, but with me and Toki, we can definitely do this. We’re going to defend the title and move on to the next round.”

From Yuki Toki:

“It’s already been decided—!!! This will actually be my first match against Abe-san, who’s been fighting in ZERO1 since before I even debuted! It’s also my first match against Sasuke-san! I can’t even imagine what kind of match this will be…But! Jack and I can defend the title. We’re definitely going to win!!!”

Also on May 2nd in Urayasu, ZERO1’s World Heavyweight Champion Junya Matsunaga will team with Katsuhiko to take on the team of Masato Tanaka and Hayabusa.
