The current World of STARDOM champion Saya Kamitani will be taking an extended leave of absence due to health issues as announced today by STARDOM.
Kamitani enjoyed a stellar 2025 that saw her become the first woman to win the Tokyo Sports Pro-Wrestling MVP and she remained the World of STARDOM champion throughout the year.
In 2025, she was involved in countless matches including several hard hitting epic bouts and they have apparently taken their toll on her health.
STARDOM President Taro Okada released a statement on the STARDOM website regarding Kamitani’s absence.
President Okada apologized to the fans and confirmed Kamitani will be back on Feb. 7th in Osaka.
From President Taro Okada:
In consideration of Saya Kamitani’s current health, the company has decided to place her on leave for a certain period of time. As a result, she will be absent from future tournaments. She is scheduled to return on Saturday, February 7th at the Edion Arena Osaka 1st Stadium. We sincerely apologize to all customers who were looking forward to Saya Kamitani’s matches. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. (Translated via Google Translate)
