So Daimonji Says A Champion Must Draw Crowds And Vows To Fill Venues As BJW World Strong Heavyweight Champion

By: Lewis Carlan

On November 25th, So Daimonji defended his Big Japan Pro-Wrestling World Strong Heavyweight Championship for the first time against former champion Yuya Aoki at Korakuen Hall. In what was expected to be a highly competitive bout turned into a war that electrified the fans that were watching.

Daimonji pulled out a victory over Aoki after hitting his Black Rain finisher to earn a successful first title defense. Daimonji celebrated in the ring following his win with his fellow YosoMono faction members Minoru Fujita & Jacob Crane.

While Daimonji was happy with his victory over Aoki, he indicated on X that he feels like he lost due to the low attendance at Korakuen Hall for the event. Korakuen Hall has a capacity of approximately 1,800 people. The announced attendance for the Nov. 25th BJW event was 407 fans which did not sit well with Daimonji and he accepts responsibility for the low turnout.

Daimonji took to X indicating that a champion and main eventer must draw the crowd and vows to fill venues as BJW’s top champion.

From So Daimonji:

Last night BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship V1. I stick to my way. That’s the meaning coming from outside That’s the #outsider. But winning the match but failing to draw the crowd is my loss. A champion and main eventer must draw the crowd. So I lost But… I will fill that arena. Yesterday was the start of that journey. Next 12/21 Osaka. (Translated via Deepl)

Daimonji’s next title defense will be on Dec. 21st at 176Box in Osaka as he faces the #1 contender Yasufumi Nakanoue. The highest claimed attendance for 176Box was 523 fans at a June 2025 Marigold event. Daimonji and BJW will be hoping they can reach close to that number when they come to 176Box next month.

As for Korakuen Hall, BJW has set a goal of reaching 1,000 fans in attendance for the famed arena.
